I should warn you that you have osmosed correctly and that Leviathan Wakes is in fact near-future sf, or at least relatively near-future (the solar system has been colonized for generations now and cultural differences have set in, especially between the people of the inner planets and the people on the "belt" of space stations). I liked the huge canvas it ended up painting on, drawing everybody into conflict, but it may well have the features that turn you off the genre.
There is also an active lack of food porn, which is where the GoT parallel really fails: so many of the characters are stuck eating processed and vaguely flavored molds/proteins. Blech. But there's good worldbuilding!
