Dear AU Exchange Creator(2018)

Thank you so much for writing for me! This whole tag-set is just incredible, and I’m so excited to participate in this exchange for the first time. ODAO, so feel free to go your own way and disregard anything here that’s not helpful to you. If you want to get a general sense of me, I’m scioscribe on Tumblr and on AO3.

Dark Tower - Stephen King
Roland Deschain, Roland Deschain & Susannah Dean & Eddie Dean & Jake Chambers & Oy, Susan Delgado
More People Live/Fewer People Die AU, Space Opera AU, Time Travel, DT: Another Turn of the Wheel, DT: Other Stephen King Characters as a Ka-Tet, DT: Susan Delgado as Gunslinger
Fic or Art

I like book illustration Roland and Idris Elba Roland and I’m totally good with racebending for Susan and Jake.

I ship Roland/Eddie/Susannah, Eddie/Susannah, Roland/Eddie, post-Eddie Roland/Susannah, Roland/Susan, Roland/Cuthbert/Susan, Cuthbert/Susan, Roland/Eddie/Susannah/Susan, Susan/Susannah, Susan/Eddie/Susannah, fucked-up Man in Black/Roland and Man in Black/Susan. For the “other King characters” AU, there are too many possibilities to list, but ship-wise, I’m especially fond of Carrie/Sue, Garraty/McVries, and Dayna/any woman.

More People Live/Fewer People Die

So many deaths, so many options! Susan lives on to be part of the ka-tet, the whole ka-tet makes it to the Tower, Susan’s father lives and that changes everything about her life, Henry Dean lives and complicates Eddie’s relationship with Mid-World, Mid-World itself is a little more densely populated which changes the feel of their journey across it…

Art-specific prompts: Illustrations of any scenes that wouldn’t have been possible in canon because of deaths, like Susan in the group hug in Book VII or a Roland/Susan wedding or all the characters in the field of roses. I love the Whelan art and also the more expressionist/abstract styles of Books II and IV, if that’s helpful.

Space Opera AU

Mid-World’s fallen technology level upped to spaceflight and space stations, especially creaky and unreliable ships and possibly haunted space stations, and the Tower is at the heart of the universe or its distant rim. Mejis is a world far away from Gilead and its culture is even more alien to Roland, and Roland’s culture to Susan. Roland has to teach his ka-tet to fly as well as to shoot. Eldritch space horrors. Thinny black holes. Alien worlds.

Art-specific prompts: Oh, man, so many. Whatever the ka-tet’s ship would look like (and what name is painted on the side?). The way station from The Gunslinger as a failing space station. Star-charts and solar system maps plotting the course to the Tower. Space opera-aesthetic magical doors, mechanical bears, etc. Roland with a blaster.

Time Travel

The ka-tet ends up going back in time to the height of Gilead’s civilization or to the beginning of its fall. The ka-tet goes back and meets Susan; Susan goes forward in time and meets the ka-tet, which makes her relationship with Roland especially complicated (or young Roland comes forward with her, and the ka-tet has two Rolands roaming around, possibly causing paradoxes). Time travel is normal in Mid-World and just another way--if a dangerous one--to speed up transportation: oh, let’s flip back to the past where the roads were better to get through this part, here’s hoping we don’t go back to our time and immediately fall off a cliff.

Art-specific prompts: I especially like the “back in time” idea for art, because of the potential to see Gilead and its architecture, art, aesthetic, etc. The ka-tet in a feast hall or on a training field. The ka-tet inserted into some scene from the past, like Susan’s death on the charyou tree or Roland’s victory over Cort. And anything with two Rolands would be adorable and potentially eerie.

DT: Another Turn of the Wheel

One of my favorite DT scenarios. Roland’s gradual journey to redemption/transformation, checked in at any point along the way, in a turn before or after canon. So many possible AUs here and I’d be delighted by any of them. Roland doesn’t let Jake drop, the ka-tet characters have their lives on Earth change in each turn for better and for worse, Oy alone is entirely conscious of how many times they’ve done this, Susan’s different fates across all the variations…

Art-specific prompts: Roland with the Horn of Gilead. Roland catching Jake when he falls. Eddie or Susannah on Earth in a better life but still seeing the door appear in the corner of their vision. All the different possibilities for Susan--gunslinger Susan, adult Susan on a horse, Gilead wedding...

DT: Other Stephen King Characters as a Ka-Tet

Stephen King fantasy ka-tet! I’d love to see characters from other King canons questing with Roland: maybe it’s an opportunity for redemption for them, a la Eddie, or for self-discovery, a la Susannah, or emotional rescue, a la Jake. I’ve read a lot of King and I especially love the characters from The Stand, Carrie, ‘Salem’s Lot, The Long Walk, Pet Sematary, It, and The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon.

Art-specific prompts: The possibilities are so broad here that it’s hard to get specific, but if you give me a Stephen King character--or multiple Stephen King characters!--in a recognizably DT setting, I will love it. Carrie in her prom dress in a field of roses (a field that almost looks like blood), Trisha facing down Shardik-the-bear with her Walkman, Garraty and McVries trudging towards the Tower, Stand characters learning to fire antique revolvers… anything.

DT: Susan Delgado as Gunslinger

One of my favorite AU possibilities for this canon. Did she become a gunslinger because Roland died in Mejis? Did she journey to Gilead on her own before that and convince Cort to train her? Did Roland wind up training her himself, and they’re both alive and partners and/or lovers? Is Susan in Roland’s place in the ka-tet, either the canonical ka-tet or one made up of different Stephen King characters? Was she always in Gilead, and Flagg targeted her, taking advantage of her complex relationship with her aunt and dead (or living) father? Girl Gunslinger Susan going to Mejis with her friends Cuthbert and Alain--or girl versions!--and meeting Roland, who’s about to wind up sleeping with the mayor?

Art-specific prompts: All the Susan-as-gunslinger portraiture--Susan on the beach looking out at the Tower, Susan in the field of roses, Susan with a gun. Susan and Roland both with guns, Susan with the ka-tet. Susan with the hawk David on her shoulder.

The Stand - Stephen King
Jenny Engstrom & Lloyd Henreid & Whitney Horgan & Randall Flagg, Nadine Cross
Canon Divergence AU, Character Accidentally Possesses Their Younger Self, Everyone Lives/Nobody Dies, Time Loop, Pack AU, Snowed in at a Haunted Hotel, The Stand: Different Characters End up in Las Vegas and Boulder
Fic

I love all The Stand characters and would be happy to see any of them; I’m open to ships and to fucked-up Flagg noncon/dubcon with the Vegas crew. For the Vegas crew, it’s okay if they don’t all appear in the fic.

Canon Divergence AU

I always love canon divergences, and The Stand is full of so many moments when people’s choices could have taken them in other directions. What if Nadine had had sex with someone else? What if she had gone to Vegas right away in an effort to gain some sort of power by “choosing” her destiny? What if she had been able to kill Flagg? And I’m really intrigued by all the different ways things could have gone for the Vegas crew--if they’d been able to rebel or escape or if they had ended up in Boulder or, post-book, in Hawaii with Flagg in a kind of purgatory.

Character Accidentally Possesses Their Younger Self

So many possibilities, both creepy and hopeful! Nadine accidentally possesses her younger self--is she able to steer herself away from Flagg and disaster, or does her younger self view this possession as a violation all its own? If the possessing-Nadine-spirit is her post-Flagg, is she already disconnected from reality/catatonic and barely able to communicate with her past self? If any of the Vegas characters wind up in their past, what do they do? I’m a sucker for redemption arcs, even tragic ones, so I’d like anything from Jenny ending up in Boulder to Lloyd possessing his past self in prison just in time to stay silent and let Flagg pass on through even though that will mean he dies there.

Everyone Lives/Nobody Dies

Or everyone lives/nobody dies except Flagg. Whatever goes down in Vegas, the Vegas people have to either figure out what they’re going to do next or integrate themselves into the Boulder community, with all the difficulties and mistrust that might entail. Slice-of-life domesticity, redemption arcs, growing trust, discovery that Flagg has been hiding out among them, discovery that Flagg is still alive and they have to track him down again...

Time Loop

Once again, a set of appeal factors that I just can’t resist for a bunch of screwed-up people who have made some bad mistakes. One of the Vegas crew in a time loop, dying and coming back--do they always come back to the beginning of the superflu or to the first days in Vegas or the last days in Vegas, and how does that affect their plans? What do they try to accomplish? Can Flagg tell that someone is looping? If Nadine is looping, how does she deal with the terrible things that keep happening to her if she’s been unsuccessful in the past? (I’m also just up for the Continuing Sex Adventures of Nadine Cross, Time After Time.)

Pack AU

Whether they’re wolves or varied shifters or just humans with pack instincts and awareness of those instincts--I love this. I’d love to see the messy pack dynamics in Boulder, with terrible alpha Flagg and Lloyd in the weird beta position of being beneath him yet wanting to take care of the others. Has Nadine always been a loner, and has she been barred from finding a pack like she’s been barred from sex? (No connection that’s not with Flagg?) Can she find any solace in the Vegas pack? Things I love with this dynamic: focus on scent, physical affection, biting/snapping, externalized submission/dominance/bonding, found family. I’d also love this combined with the other AUs.

Snowed in at a Haunted Hotel

Larry and Nadine end up snowed in on their trip west (maybe at the Overlook?), an angry God sends a freak blizzard to Vegas to snow in everybody at the hotel, Flagg sets up shop in a colder climate… I would just love to see any of these characters in a situation where the pressure is building to a boiling point, people are getting cabin fever and coming to uncomfortable realizations, and also there are ghosts. Are the ghosts strictly malevolent, or are some of them trying to warn the characters?

The Stand: Different Characters End Up in Las Vegas and Boulder

I am always happy to speculate on all the possibilities of this one. What if the Vegas crew had chosen to go to Boulder? (Did someone else rescue Lloyd from prison or did he break away from Flagg early on and manage to survive?) Or what if Nadine had managed to stay there, or if she had gone to Vegas straightaway? I’d also love glimpses of the Boulder characters in Vegas. I’m just fascinated by what motivates them to make the decisions they make, and it would be so cool to see the heroic last stand of Jenny and Lloyd and Whitney, et. al., against Flagg, with Stu at Flagg’s right hand.

Deadpool
Vanessa Carlysle/Nathan Summers/Wade Wilson, Negasonic Teenage Warhead/Yukio
Beauty and the Beast AU, Cryptid Hunters, Noir AU, Hunger Games AU, Polyamorous Marriage is Normal and Accepted in Society
Fic

I love all X-Force, so all supporting characters are totally welcome. (Plus Wolverine and Ryan Reynolds.)

Beauty and the Beast AU

Incredible snarkiness and fourth-wall breaking galore. Wade is cursed to beastliness because of his work as a mercenary or his general rudeness, and he’s pretty pissed about it, and Vanessa and Cable wander into his orbit and they all fall in love/have terrific sex, but the spell doesn’t break (maybe no one is pure of heart enough, if we’re going to bend the rules?). Oh, well, at least they have a badass castle and singing furniture. Or Vanessa and Cable think that they’re in a Beauty and the Beast AU and actually Wade was just in a fire and it’s all a bizarre misunderstanding. Or Vanessa and Wade think that Cable is the Beast walled up in his castle afraid to love again, needing to be defrosted and made nice again with blowjobs, and Cable is just super confused and also would like to point out that he’s not at all ugly. Or Negasonic Teenage Warhead is the Beast putting people off with a harsh, sullen demeanor, and Yukio’s perkiness wins her over as Yukio wanders through the X-Mansion castle without ever even getting or caring that she’s deactivating a curse.

Cryptid Hunters

I feel like this one is a prompt all its own and I just want to express what a delight it would be to see any of these people hunting cryptids. Cable wants to kill a cryptid before it becomes a future-destroying monster! Wade is a cryptid fanboy and Vanessa is a cryptid fangirl and their weird interest coincide romantically! Yukio and Negasonic as teenage cryptid hunters!

Noir AU

A great way to make use of Deadpool’s voiceover. Fourth-wall breaking, characters being aware that they’re in a noir story and aware of the tropes. Vanessa manipulating the femme fatale image. Wade manipulating the femme fatale image. Negasonic in a fedora working as a private eye, with Yukio as her bubbly partner or secretary that she has terrific chemistry with. I love the general hardboiled aesthetic--hats, smoking, noir dialogue, foggy nights, overly elaborate conspiracies--and would just love anything with that, whether that’s canon restaged as noir or something new.

Hunger Games AU

Yukio as a Capitol-born ally in the rebellion, Negasonic as a Katniss stand-in: together, they fall in love and fight fascism and wear cool clothes and kill people. Wade/Vanessa/Cable as damaged past victors who have all suffered a lot and been subsequently abused by Snow and found comfort in each other and in acerbic wit. Raiding the Capitol and enjoying all the food porn. Manipulating press coverage, selling one of the romances as the great Katniss/Peeta-style game-changer.

Polyamorous Marriage is Normal and Accepted in Society

Wade and Vanessa really want to add Cable to their marriage--well, they want to enough that they’re going to do it even though it would technically make their relationship more normal, which would otherwise be a downer--but Cable is gun-shy even though he knows he won’t be able to return to his wife Because of Time Travel Reasons. Or poly marriage is normal and accepted in society in Cable’s future rather than now, and Cable has oddly sweet ideas of courting Wade and Vanessa, who can’t even tell what he’s doing at first. Proposals between weirdos. X-Force weddings. Wedding night sex.

The Hateful Eight
Chris Mannix/Marquis Warren
Canon Divergence AU, BDSM AU, Dom/Sub AU, Peggy Sue AU, Snowed in at a Haunted Hotel, The Shining AU, Soul Bonds AU
Fic

Canon Divergence AU

So many possibilities! What if they’d met once Mannix was already the Sheriff of Red Rock and Warren was bringing in bounties? What if they’d met during the war? What if there was a bounty on Mannix’s head and Warren had captured him and decided this might be the rare case where it would be more fun to keep him alive? What if Daisy was out of the picture but they’d gotten snowed in at Minnie’s together anyway and had to bond non-murderously? What if they’d met when Mannix’s father was still alive and Warren had decided to use the son to strike a blow at the father?

Dom/Sub AU, BDSM AU

Culturally normative D/s or BDSM thrown into the mix of structural power differences between these two, highlighting Mannix’s eager-to-please immediate submission to Warren? Yes, please. Mannix is sub unused to seeing a black Dom--his daddy always told him there weren’t any, and it wasn’t uncommon for it to be downplayed to avoid trouble--but Warren is so unabashedly, unapologetically that, and--chafing from having to temporarily wear John Ruth’s handcuffs--is very interested in proving to Mannix how well and how quickly he can make Mannix submit in all kinds of ways. (And then canon happens, or doesn’t, and hopefully they survive; or all this is post-canon survival in which the promise of their early encounter is playing out.) I love use of sir/titles, kneeling, discipline/punishment, eager submission (after some initial resistance for appearance’s sake?), cockwarming, loyalty kink, praise kink, marking, and weird tenderness. The two of them confusing people they meet while traveling. Mannix really, really wanting a collar; Warren deciding what to do about that.

Peggy Sue AU

Normally I love this as a chance for characters to get some redemption, and while I’m not at all opposed to these two deciding to be better people--and especially not opposed to Mannix breaking away from his family’s teachings--I also just love the idea of these two generally using this to cause trouble. Warren wakes up in his old self and realizes that since he has a basic idea of the future of the war, he can cause even more havoc and death, but maybe he’ll swing by a Rebel camp and grab Mannix on the way for entertainment’s sake. Mannix wakes up in his old self and has a change of heart that is expressed by him going and throwing his lot in with Warren and killing for him--and then with him. A little bit of bittersweetness if they’ve had a life together already and now the other one is back at square one. The two of them recklessly changing the course of history.

Snowed in at a Haunted Hotel/The Shining AU

Preferably not a modern AU but rather the two of them stuck in a historical Overlook or wandering in from their own time period into a seventies Overlook with no idea what’s going on. They end up at Minnie’s and it’s haunted? It wasn’t haunted until they got there and everyone started dying, but now that the bloodshed is over, they’re snowed in with the angry ghosts of the other six? It’s another place entirely, a more typical hotel, and one of them is supposed to be a caretaker and the one was a guest who wound up getting snowed in? I love the idea of the two of them actually coming together under all the stress and horror--they start out with all their aggression already open and admitted to, so the hotel has nowhere to accelerate that and they wind up falling into a relationship instead. One of them has sex with the ghost in the bathtub or the ghost in the dog costume and the other is jealous. One of them has to find the other through a labyrinth of haunted rooms.

Soul Bonds AU

Soul bonds are a known phenomenon, but Warren and Mannix are really, really not supposed to be the kind of people who would form one with each other, but they either have one immediately, realize it halfway through the ordeal at Minnie’s, or acquire one after nearly dying together. All the angsty, irritated sexiness--they find it difficult to be apart, they can sense each other’s emotions, they have bone-deep loyalty kink...

Marvel Cinematic Universe
Brunnhilde | Valkyrie, Gamora, Nebula, Loki, Gamora & Nebula, Gamora/Nebula, Guardians of the Galaxy Ensemble, Thor Ensemble, Heimdall/Loki, Heimdall/Thor, Loki & Thor, Loki/Grandmaster, Thor & Loki & Bruce Banner & Valkyrie, Thor/T’Challa
Canon Divergence AU, Age of Sail AU, Arranged Marriage AU, Character is Resurrected But Came Back Wrong, Different Character Dies, Dimension Hopping, Going Back in Time to Fix the Future, Groundhog Day Time Loop, Marriage of Convenience AU, One Character Gets Three Wishes, Pack AU, Space Hooker AU, MCU: Asgardians Aren’t Intercepted by Thanos
Fic

I ship… so many things. In addition to specifically requested ships, I also like Bruce/Val/Thor, Val/Thor, Val/Bruce, Val/Hela, Val/Loki, Sif/Loki, Loki/Bruce, Grandmaster/Loki (dark and dubconny or deeply morally ambiguous but kind of weirdly cute), Thor/Gamora, Thor/Nebula, and Gamora/Peter. I love the ensemble relationships in the Guardians, Revengers/Asgardians, and Wakandan casts.

Canon Divergence AU

So many! What if Loki letting the Jotuns into Asgard had been discovered at once and there’d been time to deal with his downwards slide before it got too bad? What if Loki had masqueraded as Thor after The Dark World, with or without Thor still out there wandering around? (All kinds of awkward Thor/Heimdall, Loki/Heimdall action potential in addition to Thor & Loki.) What if Val had stayed on Asgard? What if she’d ended up in Hela’s prison with her? What if Gamora had ultimately chosen to stay with Thanos and she and Nebula had gone through Infinity War at his side? What if some of the other characters had been sons or daughters of Thanos as well? What if they’d been able to convince the Grandmaster to transport them off Sakaar? What if T’Challa hadn’t disappeared in the Snappening and he had been around to help a heartbroken Thor and the eventual surviving Asgardians find a home? What if T’Challa had gone into space as part of a royalty exchange?

Age of Sail AU

Such a great fit for space-based canons. Asgardians on wooden ships, looking for a new home. The Guardians as pirates turned roving heroes. Thor meeting T’Challa at a port. Loyalty kink on Asgard translated into military rank. I’m fine with any amount of bending to make this work--I’m thinking more Age of Sail-flavored than full on historical setting, so you can still have alien Gamora and Nebula, magic, etc. I just love the close confines, the danger, the worry about scurvy, the epic h/c potential of the battle and limited medical treatment and corporal punishment (sometimes ordered by noble captains who would really Rather Not, so everyone angsts beautifully), and the atmosphere of sea and salt.

Arranged Marriage/Marriage of Convenience AU

All of them. Thor/T’Challa has obvious potential--post-Ragnarok, Thor needs to make a marriage alliance, and Wakanda decides to open up to the galaxy, not just the rest of the world? But also Thor/Heimdall, for Asgardian Unity, or Loki/Heimdall, with it starting out as a way for them to pool their magic together as resources dwindle after Asgard falls. Loki being married off to someone powerful because that’s what you do with the second royal child--and the Grandmaster is super interested. Any Loki or Thor arranged marriage/marriage of convenience, actually. Gamora and Nebula meet when they’re older when Thanos decides that giving his favorite daughter a wife would help keep her attached to his cause. Val starting up a marriage of convenience with someone on Sakaar as a business or housing arrangement. Just all the enforced closeness leading to slowly developing feelings, please.

Character is Resurrected But Came Back Wrong

Gamora comes back after dying for the Soul Stone, but her soul is missing or damaged in some way, or she has otherworldly powers so she’s become a little more alien to everyone around her. Loki actually died on his fall from the Bifrost or at the end of The Dark World, and he’s been losing a little bit more of himself each time: who knows what he'll be like after he comes back from Thanos? Magic brings Heimdall back to life, but he feels distant from his body and his powers are strange and he’s not sure whether or not he’s become a monster, which makes Heimdall/Thor or Heimdall/Loki… interesting. T’Challa comes back from the Snap worrying he’s grown mad. I keep thinking of ways to play this for angst, but I’m also good with it being played for horror--post-Snap fic where everyone comes back but they’re zombie-like versions of themselves and their loved ones have to decide whether or not there’s anything left of them? Or they come back genuinely monstrous and not themselves at all? Is there any cure for it?

Different Character Dies

Excellent possibilities here. Thanos kills Thor to punish Loki for failing to bring him the Tesseract and Loki (possibly with a surviving Heimdall?) go on a half-out-of-his-mind grief-stricken mission of revenge/Infinity Stone gathering. Nebula stows away when Thanos takes Gamora to get the Soul Stone, and manages to kill herself there, putting the stone in Gamora’s keeping. Thor falls off the Bifrost in the fight in Thor and Loki just breaks in response to it. The Guardians crew, post-Snap, with a different survival configuration. Thor and Loki die at Thanos’s hand and Heimdall presses on, with tons of angst and loyalty kink.

Dimension Hopping/Going Back in Time to Fix the Future/Dimension Hopping to Find a Timeline That Isn’t Doomed

Especially in response to Infinity War. Give me any character or set of characters popping back and forth between universes or timelines to try to rearrange things so that they can defeat Thanos/save the Asgardians/save Gamora and I will be very happy. I love characters reacting to different versions of themselves and their friends and enemies in other universes, so them making alliances across dimensions would be great; I also love characters getting bittersweet looks at each other through time, like Gamora seeing a young Nebula who hasn’t yet fallen into Thanos’s hands or Thor seeing a younger Loki or Val looking back at the old Asgard. Or the Grandmaster just barrelling through time and space like the universe’s most careless Time Lord, altering things willy-nilly in the confident expectation that hey, it’ll all turn out right, while Loki tries to steer him in particular directions.

And I’d love to see any of the characters individually trying to fix their timelines or rescue alternate versions of themselves. Loki trying to fix his past mistakes? T’Challa trying to find Erik before everything goes wrong? Gamora trying to convince an alternate version of herself to take care of her sister or run away with her before they both get hurt too much? The Guardians trying to save Yondu? Val going back in time to try to kill Hela, or going to an alternate universe and falling in love with some version of her there?

Groundhog Day Time Loop

One of my all-time favorites. I would love this for any of these characters or relationships: serious, romantic, comedic, redemptive, or tragic. Maybe it’s based around something awful, where what needs to be fixed is readily apparent, like someone caught in a loop during Infinity War or Ragnarok or the first battle with Hela where the other Valkyries died. Maybe it’s completely non-obvious and the character has no idea what they’re supposed to fix or accomplish and they’re steadily losing their mind from confusion or boredom (bonus points for that one if it’s someone usually stoic, like Heimdall). Loki loops and gets irritated that he's making moral progress and no one can even notice it, dammit. The Grandmaster has aesthetic Groundhog Day loops on Sakaar that he sometimes just slots someone into magically. The universe really, really wants this person to morally improve. Or the universe really, really ships it, and so the character keeps looping until they progress with their romantic partner.

One Character Gets Three Wishes

Yes, please. I love this in a shippy context where the wishes are of a limited scale and give the pining character a chance to prove themselves to the object of their affections. I love it in a big, universe-altering way, cosmically good or incredibly terrifying. I love it when the character doesn’t know they have three wishes and so whatever three things they say with “I wish” happen without them realizing the power they’re exercising; I love it when they’re aware and they agonize over what to wish for. Young Gamora and Nebula wishing their way out of Thanos’s power and maybe magically accelerating themselves into adulthood or superpowers to better protect themselves from him? Thor struggling with the responsibility of what to do with the three wishes that are always given to Asgard’s new king? Thor using them to bring back his dead family and friends? Val’s three wishes that accidentally lead to the situation with Hela coming to a head? The Grandmaster’s wishes creating Sakaar and then winning him Loki? T’Challa wishing for a handsome prince and then, hey, here’s Thor on his balcony?

Pack AU

Revengers/Asgardians and Guardians pack AUs! I don’t care if they’re all werewolves, all varied shifters, or all just people with strong pack instincts that are culturally and biologically accepted. I just want lone wolf angst from Gamora and Nebula and Val and sometimes Loki, pack-bonding on the Milano and the Statesman with lots of nuzzling and focus on how people smell and physically convey their moods, Bruce being surprised to bond into an alien pack, Val being unable to shake the draw of home on a more physical level, Loki’s angst over his origins being somewhat ameliorated by the clear reassurance of pack-belonging, no one can tell who the alpha in the Guardians’ pack is supposed to be, cuddling, the Guardians all being surprised in their own way to find a pack after being isolated for so long. Weird pack manipulation on Sakaar with drugs to make you feel bonded to people and recognize the Grandmaster as alpha.

Space Hooker AU

I tend to like these iddy and angsty. Gamora and/or Nebula and/or the whole Guardians crew have always made the majority of their money off sex work, and some of their experiences have been better than others. Maybe the others are now reinventing themselves a little, post-Guardians Vol. 1, but Nebula refuses to be anything other than independent, so she keeps up the side business? And Gamora begins to hire her to protect her? The Asgardians escaped their world with no resources and so reluctantly make a few business arrangements? Maybe people just start off assuming that’s what they’re doing, since they’re on one of the Grandmaster’s ships, and at first it’s like, “Oh, no, that’s funny, though,” and then it becomes more and more necessary? Angst between Thor and Heimdall about which one of them should do the work, while the other one pines. Loki figures he’ll get a good payout from the Grandmaster, but that doesn’t mean he’s happy about it (and maybe he’s doing it secretly, knowing that they need the funds but thinking Thor, Heimdall, etc. will think less of him for it?). Val having done this for survival on Sakaar before she became a scrapper. This being how Thor and T’Challa originally meet.

MCU: Asgardians Aren’t Intercepted by Thanos

One of my all-time favorite pockets of AU time. I would love seriously anything set in this context. Council meetings on the ship with debates and dwindling resources and exhaustion. Val getting familiar again with her culture and learning everything that’s changed in all the time she’s been away. Loki making amends to people and developing his friendships and maybe romances--I have a soft spot for the idea of post-Ragnarok Loki/Heimdall with Loki pining and being irritated by it. Thor learning to be king amid a lot of stress, and stoic longing between Thor and Heimdall, or the gradual development of any Thor romance (obviously this goes well with the Arranged Marriage/Marriage of Convenience AUs). The Asgardians land somewhere and struggle to rebuild their culture. Maybe it’s on Earth and they have to network and deal with being alien newcomers; maybe it’s on a comparatively empty world and they get to start from scratch. Maybe they go to Jotunheim? Cute ship and platonic tropes in this time frame, or anything from my likes in this time frame. Five resource problems they had to deal with? Mutual support and reluctant cooperation that turns into friendship?

Just Loki/Grandmaster

Beauty and the Beast AU

The Grandmaster is millions of years old but doesn't show it because he's actually cursed to stay on Sakaar until he learns to love. But immortality is actually working out pretty well for him, so he's irritated to find himself slightly falling for this Loki guy who is manipulative and funny and just adorable, really. Dammit. So the Grandmaster keeps trying not to have feelings while Loki is just massively confused by whatever is going on. Or Loki has to be loaned to this strange, mysterious, scarred, probably unhinged Grandmaster in order to repay an Asgardian debt, and he wanders around the palace being bewildered by singing furniture and fancy clothes that just appear in his closet and the Grandmaster's bizarre behavior. Or--darker option--Loki is stuck in Jotun form and convinced that he's hideous, so he's retreated somewhere, but the Grandmaster finds him and somehow convinces Loki that if Loki falls in love with him, it will somehow let Loki return to his Aesir form.

Character is Slowly Turning Into an Eldritch Creature

The downside of the Grandmaster being millions of years old is that he’s slowly morphing into one of the Great Old Ones, which is kind of a drag—he likes this body, and who wouldn’t? Luckily, he can fuck out some of that transformation into the possibly-unsuspecting Loki, who doesn’t realize that he’s now getting sexually-transmitted eldritch nature. It’s unusual for one of the Grandmaster’s partners to stay human-ish and viable this long, so the Grandmaster’s quite pleased with this. Or the Grandmaster is slowly becoming an eldritch creature and it makes everyone’s time in his court very tense and uneasy, because you never know what’s going to happen next. Loki tries to figure out how to climb the ranks and gain favor when you can never tell the Grandmaster’s nature from one moment to the next.

Bodyguard AU

A post-war Frank (somehow single) is hired to protect David and Sarah in the aftermath of some semi-canonical work trouble of David’s, and finds himself falling in love with them, but isn’t sure they feel the same way. Domesticity, Frank’s muscles, mutual protectiveness (including David and Sarah being able to protect Frank in surprisingly clever, resourceful ways), hot bodyguard h/c. Or Billy recruits Frank into his security company and then uses Frank as his bodyguard, and the sexual tension starts to get out of control--and maybe starts making Billy regret the things he’s already done. Or Billy didn’t get involved with Agent Orange but does start his security company and later winds up having to guard Frank, and they’re able to have a little bit happier romance, albeit one that’s probably still kind of fraught.

Daemons

This is just a canon where I’m really curious what everyone would have and how they would interact with their daemons and perceive each other’s. Does Frank’s opinion of Billy’s change after the revelation of the betrayal? Is a forming OT3 foreshadowed by the closeness of their daemons? Is Sarah’s daemon able to sense that David is still alive? Are Frank and David more able to trust each other because of the way they view each other’s daemons? What’s Billy’s history with his daemon like, as he goes through his very tumultuous life?

Going Back in Time to Fix the Future/Peggy Sue

Frank travels through home with a little help from a fellow Marvel resident, and he has an awful lot to fix. He wants to keep David from ever being separated from his family… even though that may mean David won’t know him when Frank gets back to the future. He wants to keep his own family alive… even if that means he has his wife and his love for David and Sarah all coexisting at once. He wants to kill Billy… or stop Billy from becoming someone he needs to kill, he can’t quite decide. (Dubconny encounters based on weird future knowledge totally welcome here.) Or Billy gets the chance to go back in time and starts off trying to just make sure he succeeds this time--and make sure he gets revenge on Frank for messing up his face--but instead he finds himself drawn into Frank’s orbit yet again, and considering different choices.

High Fantasy AU

I love the potential for this. Frank as an emotionally wounded, chivalrous, violent knight who has been disgraced and is now in hiding! Billy as his former comrade-in-arms who has been double-dealing with a high council member who has been manipulating his way to power! David as a wizard who saw something in a scrying glass and tried to warn someone, only to find himself in danger and forced to work together with Sir Frank Castle in order to survive!

Sentinels & Guides

Frank Castle as an overwhelmed, burned out Sentinel who has been using his senses non-stop and has had no grounding or relief since his wife died, until he meets David and eventually Sarah, who turn out to be natural Guides who are able to calm and center him. Maybe Billy has some Guide abilities and used to help Frank out in the field, but their relationship was always a little more tangled and thorny? Maybe Billy’s Guide abilities gave him a little bit of emotional edge to manipulate Frank, or at least to know how Frank could be manipulated? Or does their Sentinel/Guide connection overrule everything else and keep Billy on the (comparatively) straight and narrow? Plus all kinds of sensory overload h/c and loyalty kink and heightened senses sex.

Fic

Age of Sail AU

Spaceships as creaky wooden ships! The Partisans as a group that struck out at the Empire with cannons and swords and desperation; Jyn has since turned freelance pirate to get away from them. Cassian angsting beautifully in an old-fashioned naval uniform. The dread of the huge, resilient, many-cannoned ship called the Death Star, that Jyn’s father has been coerced into designing. Rogue One as a little rowboat that can just maybe creep up upon the Empire undetected, if they’re lucky. Lots of hurt/comfort possibilities with primitive medicine and scurvy.

Bodyguard AU

Maybe Jyn stays with the Partisans and is reluctantly assigned to protect this Alliance captain Saw thinks could be useful? Are they knowingly allies, with the Rebellion accepting Saw’s help, or does Jyn have to protect Cassian from afar or without his knowledge? What is like when they start falling in love? Or Jyn goes with Galen and is later rescued by the Alliance, and Cassian is put in charge of guarding this young woman who may or may not have Imperialist sympathies? Or they’re just working together on a mission but Cassian is under strict instructions to keep Jyn alive, because if she dies while she’s working with the Alliance, it’s going to bring the tension with Saw to a head?

Space Hooker AU

I like these iddy and angsty. Since leaving the Partisans, Jyn has been making money however she can, and trying not to care about any of it, but then she meets Cassian, who needs to decompress after a particularly rough assignment… Or Cassian will do anything it takes to help the Rebellion, even if that means accepting offers from people who think he’s good-looking and are willing to pay for it. And apparently one of those people is now former Partisan and daughter-of-Imperial-scientist Jyn Erso, which could certainly lead to a lot of useful intelligence, if he can persuade her to purchase his services on a regular basis…

Alien Invasion AU

Let’s face it, this is just the next natural step for Hawkins. I’d love to see how they respond to yet another surreal threat--one some of them are probably secretly a little geekily excited about--and how they mutually try to protect each other. How far does the invasion progress? Are they able to do anything about it, or is the best they can hope for just to survive? Does the invasion start at an awkward time, parting the kids from their parents, and leaving Steve the Babysitter saddled with all the little kids or leaving Jonathan and Steve and Nancy determined to find at least Will and Mike? We’re all going to die OT3 sex? Aliens invading make Jonathan, Steve, and Nancy figure their relationship out and bond and maybe cuddle for warmth? I’m fine with all this leading into Post-Apocalypse AU territory, too.

Art-specific prompts: Any of them encountering an alien for the first time, cute or terrifying. The trio holding hands in from of a descending spaceship. Someone getting beamed up and other characters grabbing their feet and trying to pull them back down.

Werewolves

I have simple needs on this one. Werewolf Steve Harrington and the wolf puppy kids! Jonathan, Steve, and Nancy forming a pack! Maybe they’re all werewolves originally and werewolves are a known phenomenon or maybe they get turned because of something in Hawkins and have to figure out which parts of the myth are true and which are false, while dealing with the worry that they might kill someone. Does one of the trio wind up turning the other two? Did they mean to? Do the kids all decide to turn each other, much to Babysitter Steve’s incredulous dismay? Do they get pack instincts? Do their parents on the whole decide that this is a pretty useful skill considering all the danger they get into? OT3 with alpha wolf Nancy?

Art-specific prompts: So much cute werewolf art! Steve babysitting werewolf puppies. One of the trio with the other two wolfed out and sleeping on them. Portraits of what any of their wolves would look like. Creepy body horror art mid-transformation.

Fic

Life Debts are Serious Business

Everyone ends up awkwardly (soul-)bonded to each other because of all the mutual life-saving, and it creates a messy network of obligations where obviously they have to keep hanging out with each other because those are the rules, and obviously they’re going to go berserk if anything happens to someone they have a life debt bond with. So maybe Nancy and Jonathan decide to date, but then something happening happening to Steve sets off their protectiveness alarms and makes them realize they have feelings for him too? Or vice-versa? Or at least makes them all get along and be friends? Or it becomes increasingly clear to the kids that Steve is going to keep trying to save their lives because that has become His Responsibility, and they’re never going to be out of the life debt, and maybe they don’t want to be because hey, this guy’s kind of their friend now? And Steve similarly realizes he’s okay with frequently being rescued by twelve year-olds for the same reason.

Time Loops

Also a natural next step for Hawkins! These people are all used to weird occurrences by now and they’re all pretty genre-savvy--even though this is pre-Groundhog Day--so the looping person figures out what’s going on pretty quickly and starts trying to break the loop… but maybe decides to have a little fun first. The kids try to talk a non-looping Steve into taking them to go do something ridiculously reckless because they know it won’t matter if they die; Steve freaks out about it. Or Steve is looping and has to convince the kids to help because of course they’ll believe him. Or the trio is looping together and gradually growing closer as it becomes sort of them-against-the-world by virtue of them being the only people who keep living through the scenario over and over again. Or the universe ships the OT3 and keeps making one or all of them loop until they get together.
