Dear Chocolate Box Writer (2021)
Jan. 1st, 2021 10:05 pmThank you so much for writing for me! I'm so delighted by all of these relationships, and I'm looking forward to whatever you come up with. All requests this year are for fic.
I have shorter prompts or fewer prompts in some cases, but that's just how it shook out in terms of what I could come up with: I'd be thrilled to get anything here.
I'm
scioscribe on AO3 and
scioscribe on Tumblr.
Thank you again! I hope you have a great exchange.

Time Travelers Quartet - Caroline B. Cooney
Devonny Stratton/Lord Hugh-David Winden
Bonus like: Devonny calling him Winnie.
+ Devonny demands the right to go on any of Hugh-David's trips abroad, and he agrees, so I'd love to see some of those--I just want to see them exploring the world together and having adventures. Do they someday pay for Flossie and Gianni to meet them in Italy? Does Devonny get to venture to Egypt to see Strat again and introduce him to her new husband?
+ Devonny's business that Hugh-David will support and not interfere with! (Even if he's still a little flabbergasted at the idea.) I totally love future businesswoman Devonny and the idea of her going on to become a powerhouse in her own right, and I love the idea of Hugh-David, as the novel says, loving her for her strength and appreciating her breaking through these kinds of barriers.
+ Anything with the two of them getting to really know each other, before or after the wedding. Hugh-David's had some time to grow up in Devonny's absence, and she's aware of how he's changed, but they're still relative strangers to each other. How does the remainder of the wedding planning go? When does mutual attraction start to factor into things? What's the wedding night like? What do they wind up liking about each other? How does Devonny get used to England? What do they do with the crumbling Winden estates? I'd just love to see any getting-to-know-you conversations or events, including ones where one of them starts off with a facade that then collapses.
+ Time intervenes again, this time sending Devonny and Hugh-David off on their own shared adventure into the past or future--a journey in which Devonny is obviously the more experienced traveler. Do they go to the 1990s again? Ancient Egypt? Or to somewhere entirely new in the series, into the English past or into some kind of far-future scenario? I'd just adore seeing the two of them as fish out of water together, trying to do what's right and figure out how to get home (or, for that matter, how to settle down quite happily in whatever new time period they land in).
Black Box
These can totally be blended--feel free to include Gary/Nolan in an Ava & Nolan story, if you like, or a lot of Ava in a Gary/Nolan fic.
Ava Wright & Nolan Wright
+ I just really want to see these two healing after the events of the movie. I love stories where people are doing superficially ordinary things but there’s a weight to it all because of what they’ve been through, and something like that would work so well here: Nolan going to a play Ava’s in, the two of them getting ice cream, them playing a board game, etc. Just spending time together.
+ Ava has to do so much caretaking of her dad in the movie that it would be so nice for her to be reassured that he can and will look after her. Maybe she gets some typical childhood illness or injury--broken arm falling from a jungle gym, the flu, etc.--and needs and gets some TLC during the time in her life when she’s still a little insecure about how her dad feels about her or how much he’ll be able to take care of her? I think it would also do Nolan a lot of good for him to be reassured that he can look after her, too.
+ How does Ava deal with what happened to her dad, once she knows the whole story? How does Nolan explain it to her? Do they form any lasting connection with Rachel and her child? It would just be really interesting to see them grappling with this and comforting each other. Does Ava wind up having nightmares or persistent fears that her dad isn’t really her dad on the inside anymore? (I’d like it to have a happy ending, but I’m fine with angst and/or horror along the way.)
Gary Yeboah/Nolan Wright
+ I shipped them all through this, and it would be amazing to see any kind of friends-to-lovers transition for them. Gary’s so sure of Nolan’s intrinsic goodness! He shows up to rescue him in a Big Damn Hero moment! Is he just now realizing that he’s in love with his best friend, or has he been carrying this around for a long time? Does he think his actions during the movie have made it unfortunately obvious that he has feelings? When does Nolan notice, and what does he think? When does he know how he feels in return?
+ All the tentative “widower tries to date again after having been ‘off-the-market’ for a long time” tropes. Maybe now that Nolan has his life back together and has had a little more time to move on, he decides to try dating again? Does he know from the start that he wants to date Gary, or does Gary have to briefly watch him try to date other people? (Somehow Nolan’s just not feeling the right chemistry with anyone else…) Does Nolan ask Gary for advice on what it’s like being single now? Pining, misunderstandings, advice it’s painful to give, sudden feelings realizations…
+ After the movie, maybe Nolan continues to struggle with his doubled trauma, from both the crash and from how he was used by Dr. Brooks/inhabited by Thomas. How does Gary help him to feel like himself again? Does Nolan have nightmares about somehow hurting Gary and/or Ava?
+ Pre-canon, Gary had a threeway--or a full-on OT3 arrangement--with Nolan and his wife, but they weren’t out to anyone and hadn’t really clarified the whole situation for Ava. Nolan’s memory loss means he can’t really remember this little detail, but now things are starting to come back to him…
+ Weird mind-fuckery where Gary and Nolan have to go inside Nolan’s head again, via Brooks’s device or some kind of hypnosis, to help recover lost memories and Nolan’s sense of self, and it’s unnerving and possibly contains dream sex.
Marvel Cinematic Universe
Fandom-specific DNW: Infinity War deaths for Gamora, Heimdall, or Loki. Permanent Endgame death for Tony--he can die or not die as long as he comes back, and you can hand-wave or deal with that however you like.
Gamora/Loki/Nebula
+ Dark, gritty, clinging-to-each-other and using-each-other pre-Avengers scenario? They’re all stuck with Thanos and finding tentative comfort and stress release with each other while maybe bonding more than they intend to. Maybe Loki initially thinks he can use them or betray them for a better position, but then starts having feelings? Maybe they’re all able to escape together? What’s it like for Gamora and Nebula to suddenly deal with this newcomer?
+ AU where Loki is stuck with Thanos and his children for much longer, maybe even since he was a child. More angst and body modifications for everyone! Loki also getting folded into the incestuous tangle where he thinks of them as his sisters and they think of him as a brother even while they’re all fucking? I just really love people holding onto each other in very bleak, painful situations, inching their way towards being vulnerable to each other even when they don’t want to be and even when it might get them killed.
+ The Guardians + Nebula are hired to protect the Asgardian refugees as they travel towards their new home, and Gamora and Nebula are surprised to run into Loki again...
+ I’d love to see the three of them moving in a gradual and difficult way towards redemption and dealing with their past crimes and mistakes--how do they all understand each other? How do they help each other out with that?
+ Pregnancy of any stripe except "Loki gets Gamora and/or Nebula pregnant": pregnant Loki, Gamora pregnant via Nebula, Nebula pregnant via Gamora, Gamora or Nebula pregnant specifically because of both lovers, anyone in the OT3 pregnant because of sex with a third party. I just want weird "coming together to protect someone and hypothetically keep this kid alive" stuff, with bonus tenderness and possibly possessiveness.
+ Further porny prompts: body modifications, xeno, Jotun sex, comfort sex, rough sex, posessiveness, body appreciation, sex magic, knifeplay, electrical play, temperature/ice play, tenderness.
Heimdall/Loki/Valkyrie
+ I would love any kind of post-Ragnarok background scenario where they’re all traveling around, making supply deals, and having adventures and/or council meetings. How do they all start warming up to each other while they’re stuck on the ship? What inroads get made first? Do any two of them get together before they form an actual triad? What’s the inciting incident that gets them all to fall into bed with each other/make some kind of arrangement/snark at each other in a way that vaguely gestures at commitment? What kind of off-kilter romantic gestures get made among the three of them? What would a wedding look like, whether earnest or diplomatic?
+ Adventures! Adventures with hurt/comfort! Adventures with flimsy excuses for sex that they just have to have, for the sake of Asgard! I’m all for one, two, or all three of them getting injured on some kind of alien planet, especially if they’re stuck in circumstances where they can’t immediately go for help and they just have to cope with each other. Ritual sex, ritual soulbonding, ritual sex that leads to soulbonding. One of them has to have unwanted ritual sex with someone else/multiple someones, and the others have more feelings about it than they want to.
+ One of them is dealing with something supernatural--seeing ghosts, an eldritch space abomination, grave and dark magic, etc.--and needs help from the others. Are they already together? Is this something that helps get them together? Helps them realize/develop feelings?
+ Loki time travels back to the old days of Asgard and runs into a younger Heimdall and Valkyrie, who don’t know him. / Heimdall and Loki travel back in time and run into younger Valkyrie. / Any of them travel back in time within the timeline of the movies and encounter pre-Ragnarok Loki, either pre- or post-Thor 1. How do they make sense of these past versions of each other? Are there any surprises? Is anyone running into a past version of themselves, and if so, how do they feel about it? Does a relationship actually happen between characters in different timelines?
+ I’m really interested in the different walls that have to come down here and the different allowances that have to be made--and the nuances in those, for that matter: Heimdall has up-close and personal experience with the fallout of Loki’s past actions, while Val doesn’t… but he also seems more willing to cast those aside (“Welcome home” <3). Val has less immediate knowledge but more wariness. And how do she and Heimdall feel about each other? Were they ever on Asgard at the same time? If so, does Val not like that Heimdall stayed and kept Asgard’s secrets? Does he not like that she left?
Obadiah Stane/Tony Stark
+ The basic summary for all these prompts could just be "all the dirtybadwrong." If it's fucked up, skeevy, and full of emotional manipulation, possessiveness, and perversely fond condescension, it's excellent.
+ Creepy AU where Obie doesn't reveal himself to Tony in Iron Man 1, and Tony doesn't find out that Obie was responsible for his kidnapping? This can go all in on the fucked-up identity porn and betrayal--maybe they were already sleeping together, and when Tony comes back, he feels like he should be a better man and step up, so he's committing more to Obie in the aftermath of Obie trying to have him killed? Give me Obie deliberately playing the role of superhero love interest--they have dramatic kisses! Tony calls him when he thinks he's going to die!--while actually still being Obie.
+ All the weird boundary-crossing. Obie playing a kind of smarmily parental role to Tony while also giving him a handjob? Obie using a younger Tony's issues with his dad to coax him into bed, convincing Tony that this is exactly the kind of rebellion Howard would hate most? Obie deliberately using a kind of faux-parental approval to appeal to Tony and withholding it if Tony's ever not in the mood or ever wondering if this relationship is what he wants after all?
+ "I swear, Tony, I had no idea that was going to be sex pollen." (He totally did.)
+ Obie likes making Tony sleep with other people, even if Tony's not sure he wants to. Maybe there's some pretense that it's for the good of the company. Maybe he just adds pressure and pressure, implying that this is what Tony should be doing, for whatever reason. Maybe Tony's infatuated with him, and Obie is intermittently rewarding that--and keeping him on a string--and also convincing Tony to put on little shows for him for his entertainment? Because it's just so hot, he explains.
+ Anything with a pleasant surface and sharks swimming underneath. Obie and Tony get pizza together right before Tony heads off on his fateful trip to Afghanistan, and Obie's unusually tender with him in bed--because he knows he's about to try to have him murdered. General post-Afghanistan caretaking, with Obie providing tons of tainted comfort.
+ Tony gets a little nervy and eager-to-please when he's done something to piss Obie off. It doesn't stop him from doing things to piss Obie off, but he really, really wants to make things right between them afterwards. Obie takes advantage of that.
Agent Carter
Daniel Sousa & Jack Thompson & Peggy Carter
Daniel Sousa/Jack Thompson/Peggy Carter
+ I'd love to see the Earth get hit by a serious crisis that Changed Everything. Apocalypse? Alien invasion? I love when severely altered circumstances let people grow closer--romantically or platonically--than they might have before, especially when it seems like the ordinary "rules" of interaction are suspended. Post-apocalyptic cuddling because everyone's too exhausted and skittish to sleep apart, and they have to keep warm somehow? Social norms collapsing until it's easier to make the initial leap to an OT3? Kindness and tenderness in dark situations? Yes, please.
+ I loved the Classic Hollywood/hardboiled vibe of S2, and it made me want to see them as PIs. Maybe there's a lull between SSR and SHIELD, and Peggy, Jack, and Daniel found a private eye business in the meantime? What is it like for them to work together when they're only accountable to themselves and they don't have the backup or resources of the rest of the SSR? I'd be equally happy with comedic or more serious takes on this. Maybe it's just the uphill struggle of having to deal with endless divorce and insurance cases coupled with sexy OT3 banter, or maybe they end up in a hardboiled plot where they're unraveling a massive conspiracy?
+ Captivity/taken hostage together/stranded together situations are catnip for me and go so well with this ship/friendship. Trap them in a car in the middle of a blizzard, stick them in an abandoned location, have them held and tortured (with one being tortured to get information out of another?), have them gradually become crucial to each other's universe to the point where they initially have trouble being separated when they're rescued…
+ Anyone involuntarily drugged or feverishly hallucinating. Just lower someone’s emotional boundaries, mess up their mind, and let the other two take care of them. Or drug and delude them all and let them struggle to make their way out of a bad situation when they can barely tell what’s going on!
+ What if Peggy had never tried to remake herself as the compliant daughter, and she had instead disguised herself to join the war as a soldier? Does she serve with Daniel and/or Jack, and do they help her keep her secret? How do they find out, and what's it like when they do? Do they get close to her before they find out she's a woman? What does she do after the war? I'm totally down for her deciding to just strategically crossdress as necessary, with Jack and Daniel both being either down for it or totally into it, depending on the shippiness/sexiness level.
+ Totally optional Buffyverse fusion/AU: Peggy the Vampire Slayer! Maybe she'd been told that she was a Slayer, but she'd tried to resist the call and just get married instead, but then Michael's death made her get in the game and start slaying Nazi vampires. Did Daniel or Jack get assigned to be her Watcher once she made it to the States? Did both of them get assigned, since the Council correctly estimated she'd be hard to manage? I'd love to see them get pulled, Giles-like, into being completely on her side in defiance of the Council. Or maybe one of them is a vampire with a soul? Some kind of magic user? An ordinary guy damsel in distress who gets dragged into all this involuntarily but winds up sticking around?
Dottie Underwood/Peggy Carter
+ I adore situations like Fuck or Die, Aliens/Bad Guys Made Them Do It, sex pollen, etc. Basically, if you trap them in a high-pressure situation and make them bang, I will love it. Do they have to do it repeatedly, with their feelings and approaches adjusting over time? What are their attitudes towards it? (If it's sex pollen, is there a twist where only one of them is affected and needs the other's help?) I just really like the complicated swirl of feelings here, where they're dealing with necessity and danger and lust and a strange kind of professionalism? The sex can be great or awkward, painful, and uncomfortable, if you like (or anything in between)--I love the sense of people wrestling with a bad situation and struggling to make it survivable or palatable or even--defiantly--enjoyable. How does it all affect their relationship and their feelings about each other?
+ Peggy, between seasons, chasing down her personal femme fatale, Dottie, with lots of cat-and-mouse games and a twistedly lovestruck Dottie leaving behind little clues for her. Weird identity hijinks with more of Dottie dressing like Peggy and using her name.
+ Peggy Carter vs. possible Stockholm Syndrome, where Dottie captures her and tries to bring her over to her side, and Peggy resists valiantly while also inevitably growing closer to her. She can’t tell whether her new, greater investment with Dottie--and her attraction to her--is genuine or a kind of brainwashing. Peggy trusts herself so strongly that it would be fascinating to see her in a position where she had to really wrestle with whether or not her perceptions are accurate.
+ Sex + handcuffs. Dubcon during S1 where Peggy doesn’t know who/what Dottie really is, and Dottie deliberately seduces her. The two of them dressed in well-tailored suits in some demi-monde bar, undercover as gay or both cruising and running into each other. Any kind of porn, seriously.
Totally optional Buffyverse fusion/AU: Peggy the Vampire Slayer! Maybe she'd been told that she was a Slayer, but she'd tried to resist the call and just get married instead, but then Michael's death made her get in the game and start slaying Nazi vampires. Is Dottie a vampire? Does she have a soul, or is she just gradually deciding to resist--or at least temper--her more murderous impulses? Spike-style chip that makes her decide to team up with Peggy, since she can't hurt humans anymore? Or is she more of a Faith analogue, another Slayer who has her own priorities and her own very different upbringing, but also an incredibly hot obsession with Peggy?
Scrubs
Fandom-specific DNW: Awful breakups with any of the canon couples. Please just have them either be amicable (awkwardly amicable or snarkily amicable are both fine) exes or just not have dated/gotten back together in the first place.
Carla Espinosa/Perry Cox
+ Their pre-canon date goes a little better. Does he ask her out as an obvious date, or are they just sort of hanging out when the vibe shifts and it’s clear there’s interest there? How well did they know each other beforehand? I really like the friends-to-lovers transition point of either having to steel yourself to make it clear that you want things to shift towards romance or the fuzzy “is it platonic if I fall asleep on my friend’s shoulder?” If you wanted to do little snippets, it could be fun to see multiple possible first dates and how they might have worked out.
+ Carla can’t stop thinking about the “My Last Day” revelation that Dr. Cox is in love with her, and she decides she wants to give it a shot. What does that look like? How does it run smack into Dr. Cox’s tendency to self-sabotage? (I love that line in S1 where he notes that because she gets him, he’s “been systematically trying to drive her a way.”) What’s their first time like? Does she wind up following her usual plan of waiting a while before sex, or do they get to it right away?
+ Alternately, they have a one-night stand during “My Overkill,” when everything feels kind of up in the air and she thinks he really just idealizes her, and it’s her pregnancy, not Jordan’s, that shows up mid-S2 as an unexpected curveball. Maybe he’s even told himself at this point that she’s right and he’s not really in love with her, and now they have a rockier “how do we make this co-parenting thing work? How do I support you right now?” start when the situation between them isn’t totally clear.
+ We get a line about Dr. Cox being the only doctor Carla’s mom trusts, so I’d kind of love to see them meeting. Does Carla introduce him to her family on purpose, sort of unconsciously seeing if he would work as part of her life? Did her mom see him make some small-but-important romantic gesture? Did he help Carla when she was sick?
+ Anything with shippy interactions where there’s an attraction and care bubbling underneath some friendship moment, and they’re both starting to be acutely aware of it. Just little snippets of them hanging out together--him helping her move furniture, the two of them playing pool, grabbing a late dinner, etc. Just ordinary moments that then turn into something more.
+ I’m going to list this for every pairing here, but: Sacred Heart gets hit by sex pollen. Oh no. How awful. Whatever can they do.
Christopher Turk/John "JD" Dorian
+ Identity porn fandom romance! They’re both such nerds, and we get that reference to them running into each other at a CHiPS convention--what if they were both in the same fandom at the same time but didn’t know it? Are they both keeping it a secret because they’re writing slash, and they’re not out yet? Maybe not even to themselves? Feel free to go all-in on early 2000s fandom, but I’m also fine with you shifting it more contemporary if you’re more comfortable writing about current fandom platforms, etc. Real and fictional canons are both fine.
+ The two of them really pushing the “Guy Love” angle, in every way imaginable: they’re just guys being bros! They’re just friends! I love the idea of them realizing they’ve accidentally gotten into a relationship, on the lighthearted side--and there are the angsty possibilities of the two of them having plausible-deniability sex of, say, jerking off together, with one or both of them secretly pining and being crushed by the assertion that obviously this is just what you do with a really close friend. Or maybe one of them knows he’s in love and has decided to make it clear, but their relationship is already so hyper-close that JD could show up with Love Actually-style placards or Turk could take him out to dinner on Valentine’s Day and the other one wouldn’t know for sure what he was getting at.
+ Anything set during college, where they’re still getting to know each other. Does Turk think JD might be gay, and he’s trying to ignore that he’s very intrigued by that possibility? Does one of them start dating someone else, and it sparks off some jealousy that brings things to a head? Drunken makeout sessions, awkward first times on uncomfortable dorm beds, insecurity, very extra first-love pining where they’re saving little mementoes of each other? (This is a bottle-cap off his beer!)
+ Turk does move in with some of the other surgery interns in season one, and the little bit of distance between him and JD creates room for them to grow a little without each other, so they get a tiny spark of newness when they spend time together, and that lets them see each other in a new light? Missing each other makes them realize something? Living with other people drives home who they really want to be with? They’re getting jealous of someone else having roommate stories with their person or weirded out that they weren’t around when something important happened?
+ I’m going to list this for every pairing here, but: Sacred Heart gets hit by sex pollen. Oh no. How awful. Whatever can they do.
John "JD" Dorian/Perry Cox
+ A great ship for one of my favorite classic tropes: the h/c-inspired get-together. One of them gets hurt, and that inspires the other to realize exactly how much he means to him, and/or the hurt character winds up seeing the comforter in a new light from realizing how much devotion is there or seeing that the other is great in a bad situation.
+ JD comes out--or is outed, if you want more angst. Dr. Cox tries valiantly to ignore the fact that this information is sending him into a mental tailspin even as he’s stalking around giving death-glares to anyone who looks like they might be thinking about being a dick about it. But then he starts to think about the level of protectiveness/possessiveness he’s showing… or JD starts dating a guy, and Dr. Cox weirdly can’t stand him at all and wants to set him on fire.
+ JD saves/rescues Jack from some kind of danger. I have a big soft spot for this, because “you saved my kid, possibly at great risk to yourself/while getting hurt” is such an obviously big deal that it’s a huge game-changer. What happens? How does it bring some feelings to light? Does it actually change how he sees JD, kicking off new kinds of feelings, or does it make him realize feelings that were there all along? What’s the aftermath like? Sudden kiss? Shock and worry? Totally thrown for a loop by whatever the hell is going on in his head?
+ They’re out of town together at a medical conference, and the new setting--and maybe also the bar--shifts them out of their usual patterns of interaction. Maybe they have a drunken hookup that they don’t know how to react to, or one of them reacts to very, very differently than the other?
+ I love Dr. Cox trying to surreptitiously help JD out in “My Cake” by giving him a free day off via covering all his patients and answering all his pages. As far as love languages go, he’s bad at hugs, but he’s really good at acts of service! And even though that wasn’t what JD needed right then, I’d love to see him appreciate a similar gesture somewhere else down the line, when some other bad thing has happened. Maybe it’s something he can only really grasp once they’re already in a relationship? I just like the idea of him realizing that there really is an effort going on to step up for him emotionally and being able to really feel that and be helped by it.
+ I’m going to list this for every pairing here, but: Sacred Heart gets hit by sex pollen. Oh no. How awful. Whatever can they do.
John "JD" Dorian/Jordan Sullivan/Perry Cox
+ Given Dr. Cox’s whole situation in “My Screw Up,” it’s possible that he’s not the one who told Jordan about Ben--and we know that Jordan talked to JD about making sure Cox showed up for the funeral. I’m really interested in a scenario where JD realizes that Dr. Cox hasn’t talked to her and has to be the one to do it himself, and that forms a mini-bond between him and Jordan--maybe he also runs some important interference during that time. I’ve just always loved the image of both of them having a hand on Dr. Cox’s shoulder at the same time, almost touching each other, so just… more of that. Maybe they come together to handle things and it just starts to feel like JD’s part of their relationship, so the intimacy amps up until he just… sticks around.
+ I love that Dr. Cox and Jordan canonically recognize that they’re not necessarily the warmest and cuddliest people in the world, so they sometimes try to sub in someone else whenever one of them needs comforting. Maybe JD becomes that person on a regular basis--he can give them a kind of softness that rounds out their relationship, so he becomes the go-to for requests like, “Take Perry out, he’s having a hard day,” or “Find out what’s bothering Jordan.” Then they realize they want him there all the time.
+ The “My Overkill” solution for getting over your intern sleeping with your ex, whom you’re also sleeping with? Threesome. Maybe Cox is drunk when he comes up with it, but everyone’s already committed by the time he sobers up, so it actually winds up happening? Maybe it’s actually designed as a move to turn his relationship with one or both of them into scorched earth? Is it fun, angsty, awkward? All three?
+ Funny/sweet/sad slice-of-life snippets, like awkward extended family dinners at holidays, trouble deciding how open to be with their families and friends about the relationship, JD slowly taking on the role of Jack’s (and Jennifer Dylan’s, if you like) third parent, Christmases, birthdays, lazy morning sex when no one has to go to work, vacations, etc.
+ This is also in my JD/Cox prompts, but: JD saves/rescues Jack from some kind of danger. I have a big soft spot for this, because “you saved my kid, possibly at great risk to yourself/while getting hurt” is such an obviously big deal that it’s a huge game-changer. What happens? How does it bring some feelings to light? Does it actually change how Jordan and Perry sees JD, kicking off new kinds of feelings, or does it make one or both of them realize feelings that were there all along?
+ I’m going to list this for every pairing here, but: Sacred Heart gets hit by sex pollen. Oh no. How awful. Whatever can they do.
Twin Peaks
Fandom-specific DNW: institutionalized Audrey during The Return. Supernatural explanations for her S3 plot are totally fine.
Audrey Horne/Dale Cooper
+ Any kind of get-together fic. Tenderness in the aftermath of Audrey’s ordeal at One-Eyed Jack’s? Cooper finishes up his investigation into Laura’s death but does get that little Twin Peaks house he’d been eyeing and he and Audrey have a slow burn progression into romance when he’s there between assignments? They run into each other a few years after the original series and reconnect? Undercover as a couple? Return-era first time, full of melancholy regrets about wasted time and with or without weird time/reality-slippage?
+ Audrey’s excitement over seeing that Denise was a DEA agent was adorable, so any AU with future DEA or FBI agent Audrey Cooper would be great. I’d love to see her and Cooper working some kind of case together. X-Files setup where they investigate Blue Rose cases all over America?
+ Golden Age detective AU, with traditional ratiocination coming face-to-face with Lynchian weirdness. Does Cooper somehow formulate his own distinctive style of detection even in this mold? Or is he interviewing people and dissecting alibis and looking for contradictions while being told the owls are not what they seem? And what's to make of the young lady in the case? He's falling in love with her, but is she possibly a murder suspect? Does Audrey still basically attach herself to him as his assistant?
+ Surreal/fantasy-style/fairytale situations. One of them rescuing the other from the Black Lodge? Cooper rescuing Audrey from the purgatorial, nightmarish white room she finds herself in at the end of season three, with Audrey having to figure out how to break through somehow to help him? S3 Audrey-with-Charlie is a tulpa, and the real Audrey is in the White Room, dislocated in space and time, sometimes catching glimpses of her other life? Audrey as Little Red Riding Hood, walking through the woods and off the path, looking for her special agent, and maybe having to pick him out from a crowd of wolfish doppelgangers? Reenacting “The Snow Queen” and having to restore Cooper’s heart post-S2? Audrey under a Sleeping Beauty enchantment that only Cooper can lift? They’re in the woods together when there’s a sex pollen outbreak that means their first time is going to be an accelerated, desperate act, and even more vulnerable than usual?
+ Maybe Cooper is able to go back in time to before Laura's death, but under different--and maybe more hopeful--circumstances and with different results than at the end of S3? Or Audrey is the one who travels back and has to try to save Laura, and she calls Cooper for help? (Cooper is, after all, someone who would believe a random phone call saying you know him from the future.) Or I'd love to see one of them displaced in time and living their life out-of-order.
+ Additional porn likes: first time sex with virginity loss, wedding night sex, body appreciation, vulnerability, tenderness, dirty talk, tie bondage, undercover assignment costume porn and clothed sex, leisurely exploration, oral, edging, feverish sex, dreamlike Lodge sex, hallucinated sex, taking dirty pictures, reading Victorian porn together.
Audrey Horne/Laura Palmer
+ Golden Age Hollywood AU. I can just see Laura Palmer as a tragic Golden Age actress with a lot of drug/alcohol/sex scandals the studio has hushed up. Is she still dealing with BOB and his possession of her father, just while also trying to manage an acting career and the fragile life of being a kind of public daydream? Meanwhile, she and Audrey, another actress with a different kind of public image, are inexorably drawn to each other… Or I could also see Audrey as someone striving to produce or direct, even if she’s not going to be allowed to take the credit for it--and maybe she really wants Laura to be her star?
+ Laura gets to reclaim her body and sexuality and slowly discover her own desires. I’d love to see anything in that line, whether it’s difficult and angsty--she wants to have sex with Audrey, and they do have sex, but it brings up a lot of traumatic memories that she’s having trouble dealing with--or celebratory and hot or anything in between. It could also be great to see the two of them making some home movies or taking some dirty pictures, this time maybe with Laura behind the camera, getting to see what it feels like to be the one filming instead of the one constantly made into an image?
+ Audrey and Laura grow closer, pre-canon, and help each other escape. For Audrey, it’s just about getting out of a small town she’s not sure she likes very much, but for Laura, it’s about getting away from BOB, and the stakes are infinitely higher. I’d love to see the two of them sort of on the run from a supernatural force together, sticking close to each other while they try to set up new lives, and starting to develop feelings for each other. Can Audrey help protect her? How much can Laura reveal to her? Anything in this situation would be incredible.
+ Audrey winds up stuck in a time loop on the day or week of Laura’s murder, like something wants her to figure out how to stop it. Or Laura is in a loop and unexpectedly chooses to confide in Audrey, who decides to believe her just because it’s the more interesting possibility.
+ Anything pre-canon with the sense of the two of them being drawn to each other and somehow attuned to each other, even though they’re not really close (or at least not really friends). I’d love to see their perspectives on each other, especially since they have all these very different contexts of knowing each other--school, rumors, their dads’ partnership/family ties, etc--that give them very different facets of each other. (And of course Laura has an additional, unwanted perspective on Ben Horne that Audrey doesn’t know about.)
+ S3 fic where the boundaries between them are thin, and they can have dreamy, otherworldly encounters in the Red Room? Anything generally Lynchian and strange for them, actually: alternate Audreys and alternate Lauras keep meeting? Audrey grows older and keeps meeting women in bars who look like Laura Palmer and may be Laura Palmer or at least be briefly possessed by her? Recurring fits of dream sex?
Wiseguy
Dan "Lifeguard" Burroughs & Frank McPike & Vinnie Terranova
Dan "Lifeguard" Burroughs & Vinnie Terranova
Frank McPike & Vinnie Terranova
I'm lumping all these together because I just love the friendship and mutual protectiveness these three have in any of these combinations, and my prompts were very similar for the different combos.
+ I'd love any variety of hurt/comfort, even if it's a scenario the show has done before--I'm always up for seeing those situations done differently/covered in more depth. The cops once again roughly haul Vinnie in for a crime they think he's committed, burying him in the system while Frank and/or Lifeguard work to get him out--and maybe to rain down a little righteous justice in the process? Frank or Lifeguard get tortured for information on OCB agents? Any or all of them have to deal with exhaustion, illness, overwork, and general mental stress, up to and including breakdowns? One of them gets drugged to the point of being totally out of it, and the other/others have to look out for him? Basically, shower down hurt and offer comfort to any of these characters, and I'll eat it up with a spoon.
+ Frank and Vinnie's little period of cohabitation could have lasted much, much longer as far as I was concerned. I'd love to see anything like that--more of them living together? More adventures at Lifeguard's cabin? Awkward room-sharing? Video games? Cooking together? Tentatively comforting someone after a nightmare? Winding up taking care of a dog or cat?
+ Maybe they could do some relatively lighthearted casework for a change. AU where Vinnie actually does use Dead Dog Records to offer Lifeguard a recording contract, or at least the equipment and studio time to put together an album? Frank or Lifeguard having to be the one to go undercover, with Vinnie giving them tips and enjoying the shoe being on the other foot? (Or getting irritated by it, once he's reminded once again of how powerless it can feel on the other end of the danger?) Borrowing from
rachelmanija last year, I'd also totally love to see Vinnie undercover on Broadway--or maybe on the TV/movie side of the entertainment industry, now that he's dipped his toes in the water with Dead Dog. I'm also totally fine with darker cases, too--I'd be thrilled to see something that was basically just another episode of the show, including with twists like "Wiseguy, but supernatural" or "Wiseguy, but in space."
+ I love little moments of comfort and connection--Lifeguard turns off the tape recorders once again to talk to Vinnie, Vinnie looks after his handlers, post-episode fics, much-needed vacations, etc. I'd read about them playing Monopoly, seriously.
+ Terranova family dinners expand to include Lifeguard and/or Frank! Birthday gift-giving! Anything with sentimental gestures being made very awkwardly is totally my jam.
+ Lifeguard or Frank is around when Vinnie is having one of those uncomfortable run-ins with someone from the old neighborhood who thinks he's grown up to be a ruthless criminal, and they try to help him cope with it.
Sonny Steelgrave/Vinnie Terranova
Prompt-specific DNW: Vinnie going totally over to Sonny's side/becoming a criminal for real/torpedoing his career.
+ Anything set during their canon timeline relationship, but with bonus angsty sex and pining and inevitable tragedy. I love the way this kind of pining focuses on little intimate details, like, say--Sonny lights a cigarette for Vinnie and puts it in his own mouth first before passing it over, or clothes-sharing, or Sonny giving Vinnie things (and maybe Vinnie returning the gesture even when he feels uneasy about it).
+ Peggy Sue AU/Groundhog Peggy Sue where Sonny dies and then wakes back up in the restaurant right as he's about to meet Vinnie, and then has to figure out what the hell to do about it--try to keep his distance? Try to get revenge? Try to play him somehow? And all the while, he's pining and it's tearing him apart, and he hates it. And Vinnie has no clue why this gangster he's just met is acting like this.
+ I also like Just Two Guys Being Bros-style denial for these two, where it's something like "I'm super drunk and I only want you to give me a blowjob/handjob because there's not a woman around, no, seriously." Especially if there's eventually a dead giveaway sign that that's not remotely the actual situation.
+ Unexpected bits of tenderness--hair-touching, impulsive endearments, etc.--that make the tragedy even worse. Or hurt/comfort where Vinnie is hurt and Sonny is comforting him, which makes the hurt better but everything else dramatically worse.
+ Sonny's POV, either on an original scene or on something in the series--suspicions about Vinnie that he pushes aside or dismisses, his thoughts and feelings when he believes Vinnie's betrayed him to Patrice, falling in love while missing or misunderstanding Vinnie's occasional feelings of guilt about the whole thing, being drawn to Vinnie's moral compass (suppressed though it is while he's undercover) and bending to accommodate it despite what he thinks is his better judgment, general feelings of attraction and pining while he has no idea what's actually going on.
+ Mildly more optimistic AU version: Sonny used to be a gangster, but he turned for the OCB (for reasons of your choice) and is now a kind of informant with conflicting allegiances, sort of like a more-ensconced-in-crime and less-trusted version of Vinnie himself. He's supposed to be Vinnie's in with the local crime syndicates, but there are plenty of good reasons not to trust him completely. Together, they fight crime while having sexual tension and moral disagreements.
Bobby Travis & Vinnie Terranova
+ I once called Bobby a "knowledgeable puppy on cocaine," and I stand by that, so anything with him just enthusiastically bouncing off the walls and showering Vinnie with music industry knowledge while Vinnie tries to figure out how to make practical use out of it--or tries to do a version of it that he'd actually be morally comfortable with--would delight me. I'm totally down with just a banter-heavy ficlet for their relationship.
+ Poor Bobby--everyone's always onto him about his big mouth, but he doesn't blow Vinnie's cover after all! He does it right! I'd like to see him get an attaboy for that. And if you wanted to go more dramatic and hurt/comforty, I'd love to see any situation where Bobby somehow manages to successfully cover for Vinnie when the stakes are especially high or when he's actually being pushed around for information. Maybe someone seeks him out for leverage on Vinnie in some post-arc storyline because it's known that they used to be partners in Dead Dog?
+ Post-Dead Dog reunion, where they're either just hanging out and actually being friends--Bobby's one of the few people who actually knows Vinnie's situation!--or where one of them needs the other's help with something. Maybe Vinnie needs Bobby to get him an in with someone in the business, or Vinnie finds himself agreeing to back Bobby up in some contentious music deal. Maybe Bobby keeps sending Vinnie new Dead Dog records unasked, and Vinnie keeps getting drawn back in to talk about the music.
+ Bobby somehow gets dosed with truth serum and therefore becomes Bobby Travis, Only More So.
+ Bobby manages to rescue Vinnie from trouble, against all odds. Even he can't entirely believe that he pulled that off.
I have shorter prompts or fewer prompts in some cases, but that's just how it shook out in terms of what I could come up with: I'd be thrilled to get anything here.
I'm

(Or getting irritated by it, once he's reminded once again of how powerless it can feel on the other end of the danger?) Borrowing from
+ I love little moments of comfort and connection--Lifeguard turns off the tape recorders once again to talk to Vinnie, Vinnie looks after his handlers, post-episode fics, much-needed vacations, etc.
