Dear Chocolatier (2022)
Jan. 2nd, 2022 05:31 pmThank you so much for writing for me! I'm already looking forward to having an excuse to use all the candy comparisons in a comment. <3 I've included prompts in case they're helpful; there are some fandoms/relationships where I could come up with more prompts than others, but that's just what occurred to me--I'd be totally delighted to get a gift for any of these requests.
All requests this year are for fic.
I'm

Miss Mack - Michael McDowell
Janice Faulk/Miss Mack
The intensely femslashy vibes between Janice and Miss Mack are so excellent, and it's delightful to see them swept up in a whirlwind of fun and the sheer enjoyment of each other's company. I really love that the traditionally adorable Janice is so into the fat, badly dressed, incredibly charismatic Miss Mack, whom no one was really considering in a romantic light. Then when the story takes its turn towards Southern Gothic horror, it's so unnerving and effective.
This story is available online in text and podcast form.
* Janice thwarts the Hills' witchcraft in some way: fix-it edition. Maybe she decides to come to the pond on Halloween night because she doesn't want to wait until the morning, and she sees some evidence of the spell and is able to interrupt, overthrow, or redirect it somehow? If she can't cancel it but can only change it, what are the new effects? Vengeful? Magical in a cool sense, by giving them the ability to stop and start time as they want, or to time travel? Or maybe Janice enters the spell without realizing what's going on and winds up trapped there herself--can the two of them figure it out from the inside?
* Janice thwarts (or attempts to thwart) the Hills' witchcraft: break-it-further edition. Janice enters the spell and winds up also stuck in endless Halloween night at Gavin Pond? (I don't want her and Miss Mack to turn on each other, but I'm okay with them dying together--talking and making love and scraping together what joy they can before the end.) She comes on the morning of November 1 and finds Miss Mack dead … and throws a wrench into the Hills' plans by, say, burying her in a Pet Sematary-esque burial ground where she Comes Back Wrong. (Subtly or otherwise.)
* All the Miss Mack/Janice courtship or relationship-building stories. I'd love to see some more of their time together in detail--their adventures out at the airstrip, the drag-racing, the lazy days at the pond, etc. Do they start realizing their attraction to each other? How does the flirtation go? Their first time in bed? I'm good with any romance stories either having a bittersweet canon-compliant ending where we know what's coming or with them diverging from canon to save Miss Mack/get them out of Babylon before it's too late.
* Still horror, but in a completely different way (and possibly with completely different outcomes). They slowly realize that the woods around Gavin Pond are cursed, uncanny, or filled with ancient monsters or eldritch horrors? They're out at the cabin together when a killer attacks? They venture out to the tenant-farmer shacks and wind up awakening something? One or both of them is haunted, or they get trapped in a haunted location? (Or maybe one of their adventurous hobbies involves investigating haunted houses, but they run into something that's more than they bargained for.)
* Miss Mack's ghost stays in Babylon to protect Janice and get revenge on the Hills. Totally here for ghost/human sex and romance. How do they communicate? Can Janice always see her and hear her, or do they have to figure something else out? Does she only see her in dreams?
Joyeux Noël
Audebert & Horstmayer
Audebert & Horstmayer & their wives
Audebert/Horstmayer
This movie is so simultaneously heartwarming and heartbreaking. I love the rapport the men develop--tentative at first and then stronger and stronger, with them taking greater and greater risks for each other and making more and more sacrifices--and Audebert and Horstmayer may have my favorite relationship of all. Audebert reminds Horstmayer of better times and thaws him out, and Horstmayer winds up reconnecting Audebert with home and greatly surprising him. I want to believe they get that drink after the war and get to visit each other.
For Audebert/Horstmayer, I'd prefer if their wives are fine with it, either in a general poly way, an "under the circumstances, it's okay for you to find comfort where you can" way, or some post-war "it's okay because it's this specific person you have feelings for" way. (Threesomes, foursomes, or general poly relationships among the two couples are also totally fine.)
* Audebert and Horstmayer get that drink in Paris after the war. Maybe they communicate about it beforehand, so there's a focus on the anticipation of it all, or maybe Horstmayer just turns up one day (possibly accompanied by his wife?), and it's a joyous surprise? Is there a hug? Is it awkward? Warm? I'd just love to see any takes on this kind of reunion.
* Epistolary story where--against all odds and, um, probability--they manage to keep in touch during the remainder of the war. Maybe they send coded messages to each other? Do they wind up corresponding with each other's wives, too? I'll also take them talking about each other in letters home. Or maybe it's post-war epistolary, where they can actually be more open, without worrying about codes, censors, or having their letters read? How might their relationship progress that way?
* Horstmayer and his wife move to Paris after the war--either immediately or several years afterwards--and live close to the Audeberts and get really intimate with them, either platonically or romantically/sexually? (Mentioning growing anti-Semitism in Germany around this time is fine, I'd just prefer that if we get to that point in the timeline, Horstmayer and his wife definitely get out.) Just them settling into Paris, becoming old and warm friends/lovers with the Audeberts, post-war domesticity, apartment decorating, dinners together, etc.
* Horstmayer invites Audebert (and his wife, if you like) to his family's Seder. Family traditions and holiday feelings for everyone once again, but this time with the celebration resonating more culturally and religiously with Horstmayer.
* One of them mistakenly gets reported dead, and the other accordingly angsts. Maybe there's then a difficult, hurt/comfort-y, angst-filled struggle to get out of the near-death situation, and for some random reason, the other one is close by and actually gets to help? Or maybe it's just that one spends a long time thinking the other is dead, and then the eventual reunion is shocking and wonderful and painful all at the same time? I'm also here for the idea that the two of them have done everything they can to keep track of each other throughout the war, so they've been following the news as closely as they can, and this just really rocks them back.
* After Christmas but before they're all separated, WWI is interrupted by an alien invasion that unites all their countries in a single fight. Being on the same side! Hurt/comfort and teamwork! Mutual admiration of each other's competence! Expanded possibilities for happy endings!
* Covert sex at the front, during the small amount of time they have before they're all separated? (Maybe it lasts a little longer, and they all get to have New Year's together?) Huddling/cuddling for warmth? Reunion sex? Sharing clothing or keeping small tokens of each other, like Audebert giving Horstmayer something out of his wallet? Their first kiss happening right before they have to be separated, and they have to spend a lot of time wondering what it meant? Fraught pining and subtle touches? Ambiguous, vaguely smarmy moments where they're maintaining plausible deniability (even to themselves) about whether or not this is outright romantic or sexual, but it's all very emotionally intense and full of mysterious longing?
Marvel Cinematic Universe
Helmut Zemo & James "Bucky" Barnes & Sam Wilson
Helmut Zemo/James "Bucky" Barnes/Sam Wilson
I'm okay with whatever means you want to use to get this team-up happening: maybe Zemo's paroled to Sam and Bucky's custody with certain conditions or restrictions, maybe they just have to check him out from the Raft for various missions, etc. I just really love the idea of them as a team, slowly working out an actual (if weird) bond of snarky attachment, slowly growing trust, and mutual loyalty. It's just all perfectly primed for my love of redemption arcs and/or relationships and priorities that change how one-time villains approach things. And they have such great, testy energy together.
I'm also fine with Sam/Bucky in a Sam & Bucky & Zemo scenario.
* One of them has to go undercover alone in a dangerous situation, and the other two listen to it over the radio, worrying and trying to hide it and possibly acting as a lifeline talking the endangered one through a bad situation or keeping him alert when he can't lose consciousness, etc. Just all the barely-concealed fretting and care.
* They have to go undercover in a relatively mundane situation, but they wind up--or at least some of them wind up--getting surprisingly invested in it. Just give me them having strong opinions about how to be undercover bartenders/bar owners or convenience store workers or real estate agents and getting really pissy about it while also being kind of adorable.
* Anything that plunges them all into one of their backgrounds. They have to take the Paul & Darlene out for some lengthy boat adventure? Sarah and the kids are endangered, and Sam, Bucky, and Zemo have to make sure they're safe? They all accidentally travel back in time to 1930s Brooklyn? Sokovia has been dissolved into other countries, but suddenly it's somehow a ghost territory full of phantom spirits and buildings destroyed in war, and they have to figure out what the hell's going on?
* Also anything with them sharing little bits of their background with each other, whether that's Sam bringing them to Sarah's or taking them out on the boat or Bucky talking about HYDRA or 1930s/1940s New York or Zemo opening up a little about Sokovia and his family. Maybe a tragic personal anniversary rolls around, and the other two do their best to keep their eye on the affected third?
* They're stranded in an inhospitable environment/taken captive together/lost on an alien planet/forcibly soulbonded (accidentally? For Zemo's release?)/etc.--anything with a lot of potential for forced proximity and hurt/comfort, which are so great for getting over the enemies-to-lovers or enemies-to-friends hurdle that Zemo brings with him.
* It turns out someone is doing terrible experiments with or otherwise abusing the prisoners on the Raft (or just the one non-superpowered one), and Sam and Bucky have to break Zemo out again and try to shut everything down. I just love the idea of "this has to stop, but also we have to get this one guy out right now; we're taking our villain and leaving for some trauma recovery. We'll work out some kind of arrangement later." Just all the dark hurt and awkward comfort and relationship growth.
* Additional random hurt/comfort prompts: Hurt protecting each other? Captured and tortured? Captured and nonconned? One of them is tortured for information about the others, and others recover him later? Forced to accept torture or rape for food/medical care for someone else? Rescue missions? Migraines? Dehydration? Hypothermia? Feel free to whump any or all of them however you like and then let them comfort each other (with or without additional sex). Also, I will buy into basically any premise that allows for h/c, so FWIW, I am not a stickler for "is this a plausible real-world situation." I'm also a sucker for things like "characters draws negative attention onto themselves to protect someone else," characters having to hurt their friends/loved ones in some undercover situation, and temporary character death or "I thought you were dead."
* Any little gestures that reveal growing care among the three of them, especially with protectiveness, tenderness, and/or loyalty. Also, romantic gestures in their uniquely weird romantic relationship--acknowledgements of anniversaries, attempts to admit their feelings, big attempts to come through for each other … but all done a little weirdly because they're them.
* Amnesia: They're in a somewhat more settled relationship--friendship, established if wary allies, romance, It's Complicated--and then one or more (but not all three) of them loses the last few years of his memory and has no idea how they ended up like this, and there is much angst and confusion.
* Sam and Bucky are already together, and Zemo is convinced his pining for them is hopeless--after all, there are a whole lot of reasons why it might be. Just give me all the on-the-outside-looking-in pining and the certainty that the best he can do is make sure they stay alive and happily together … but actually they have or are developing feelings for him too. (Possibly after some dramatic attempted self-sacrifice? Sometimes the best romantic gesture is saving somebody's boyfriend.)
* Sex: One of them has a bad day or is just generally hurting physically or emotionally, and the other two wind up basically sandwiching him in an attempt to make him feel better. Just two of them tag-teaming the other to give him their complete sexual attention for a while. Other specific sex prompts: gentle sex because somebody's injured, unexpected tenderness, praise kink, possessiveness, and Sam and Bucky really liking getting Zemo all ruffled and mussed and generally messing up his controlled facade.
* Sam and Bucky need someone to turn them over to HYDRA/other bad guys as part of a ruse, but it's hard to find someone who plausibly seems like they might sell them out but who won't actually sell them out. Only one name comes to mind ... but it's still hard to put their lives in Zemo's hands and trust him to come through for them.
James "Bucky" Barnes/Sam Wilson
I totally fell for these two with their bickering and their deep feelings and their heart-eyes for each other. I love Sam's blend of ideals and practicality and willingness to just keep trying, and I love Bucky's grumpiness and humor and loyalty and persistence. They hit the sweet spot of blending together well enough to be terrific partners but still having conflict and pining potential. Plus, they're destined to spend their whole lives getting into trouble.
* Sam is now Captain America, putting him even more in the public eye. What's it like for him to suddenly be that much of a symbol, with all the accompanying pressures and criticisms and scrutiny? How can Bucky help him deal with it? If Sam's always bound to attract a lot of attention, does it feel like he and Bucky can't take things to the next level? Does Sam worry about the effects of being an openly queer Captain America? I'd love any takes on this, from angsty and full of pining to comedic and full of frustration as they're constantly trying to date/fuck but can't get enough time alone to "I'm going to make a big romantic declaration and to hell with what anyone else thinks about it" swoonworthy romance.
* Fantasy-elements AU where "Captain America" is more of a mystical, magical position that basically gives you a deep connection to the place you're representing and maybe some magical powers related to it. And Bucky is technically sworn to the shield/magically tied to it, but he doesn't want to be Walker's guy, so he wants to convince Sam to take up the mantle despite Sam's misgivings. (Does the mantle also involve sleeping with him? RITUAL SEX.) Feel free to go all in on the magic and worldbuilding.
* They have to go undercover in a relatively mundane situation, but they wind up--or at least one of them winds up--getting surprisingly invested in it. Just give me them having strong opinions about how to be undercover bartenders/bar owners or convenience store workers or real estate agents and getting really pissy about it while also being kind of adorable.
* Due to magic or aliens, they wind up switching bodies temporarily, and a ton of complications come up as they try to work out how to fix it. Sam has to get used to supersoldier strength and a prosthetic arm, Bucky's dealing with suddenly being a Black guy in America and with not having supersoldier strength … and also it's hard to resist exploring each other's bodies, especially as things go on. Body appreciation, jerking off in someone else's body, having sex in the wrong bodies, etc.
* Sam's had to step up and throw his whole life on the line for Bucky before, so now I crave Bucky having to dramatically risk everything for Sam. "Oh, you need me to participate in some really bad idea that could ruin my whole life? Got it. (I'd do anything for you.)" "Wait, what was that last part?" "Uh, nothing."
* Sex pollen or aliens Made Them Do It when they weren't sure they wanted to go there yet? I love scenarios like this where they're trying to make it as good as possible, but the situation is so awkward and uncomfortable that it's still rough and each is still unsure of what the other one is feeling, and also they have no idea how to handle the aftermath.
* Absolutely any kind of marriage scenario, and I'll go along with any worldbuilding here. As Captain America, Sam is expected to have some kind of "significant" marriage, so he keeps having to consider all these different candidates he's not really clicking with … but hey, could he justify marrying Bucky as "making a stronger team"? Or maybe Bucky needs to have some kind of official spousal sponsor for his pardon? They have to get married on an alien planet or as part of a magic ritual, and they think it'll just be pro forma, but it comes with a soulbond? Marriage is mandatory after sex pollen? Bucky has to compete for Sam's hand in marriage?
* The two of them in a post-apocalyptic scenario, making the best of it and trying to help whoever they can … while also potentially huddling for warmth at night, becoming even more fiercely protective of each other and necessary to each other, etc.
* Bucky keeps wearing Captain America merch, and seeing him work out in a Captain America tee and finding out that he wears Captain America boxers is really doing something for Sam, as much as he hates to admit it. It started out as a joke, but Bucky is horrified to find it's now doing something for him too.
* Sam is a likable, social guy, and he had to spend quite a while on the run. He has a global network of connections--and also some useful exes he's still on pretty good terms with. Bucky is oh-so-mysteriously frustrated and flustered by seeing all these ex-boyfriends and ex-girlfriends be all chummy and flirtatious with Sam. Just give me Bucky feeling irritated by these people without quite getting why at first and trying to tell himself that it's just that Sam has really terrible taste, seriously, these people all suck. Meanwhile, Sam may or may not be fucking with him because he can tell it's driving Bucky crazy.
* I am a sap and I would totally read a billion Sam/Bucky Harlequin romances, so if you want to steal any snippet of plot from the Unconventional Courtship challenge, please go right ahead. Royalty! Boyguards! Boss/assistant! Cowboys!
Re-Animator
Daniel Cain/Herbert West
Re-Animator is such a goofy, gory delight, and it hit me with so many unexpected feelings, especially in the first movie. It's so funny and frequently, delightfully over-the-top while still taking its characters' emotions seriously, and I love the intensity and weirdness of the Herbert-Dan relationship and would be happy with anything that gave me more of that. I really like them being mutually emotionally tied up with each other and having this bizarre loyalty kink and sense of teamwork.
Fandom-specific DNW: Beyond Re-Animator canon.
* More horror is enthusiastically welcome. They awaken or otherwise attract the attention of some kind of eldritch entity? They're snowbound in a haunted hotel? Quietly tragic horror where Dan slowly realizes that he's Herbert's most successful resurrection because Herbert couldn't stand to let him go even though he's come back slightly wrong? Herbert dies at the end of the first movie but sporadically makes ghostly appearances in Dan's life to protect him, bug him about working on the reagent, and just generally be in love with him? Chased and hurt by monsters and/or zombies or trying to survive in a zombie apocalypse?
* I love the idea that Herbert succumbs to Hill's hypnosis with particular ease, which of course would disconcert him. Maybe he asks Dan to hypnotize him a few times so he can get become more adept at breaking free of that kind of control, and they wind up getting really into it was a kind of unconventional (and deeply ill-advised) D/s and/or consensual somnophilia-adjacent thing? I just really like the idea of Herbert finding that he inexplicably likes being temporarily under Dan's control and trying to justify this in very scientific terms while Dan is also grappling with it from his side, liking the protectiveness but sort of being afraid of all the power? Relatedly, I am also 100% down for this as a kind of weird trauma recovery with Hill having previously nonconned a hypnotized Herbert. (I am in general very fond of non-Dan dudes sexually menacing Herbert West, so that's always fine to include.)
* Sex pollen-like reagent fumes: a natural hazard of scientific work. I am so here for these two hooking up under a chemical influence and then having to decide what to do about it, possibly with the twist that this really does happen pretty regularly and, say, Dan catches himself being disappointed that it happened once while he was gone and Herbert just wound up jerking off the whole time.
* Any and all hurt/comfort, with either hurt, blended with any of the above prompts or on their own. Maybe one of them gets hypnotized/mind-controlled into hurting the other, resulting in a heaping helping of angst with the h/c? Maybe one of them has to perform emergency surgery on the other without any anesthesia? One of them hurt protecting the other?
* Very weird slices of domestic life--in Peru, in the Bride of Re-Animator mortuary, or anywhere else. Scrambling eggs on one burner while reagent bubbles on another! Really bizarre Christmases with Herbert West! Dan trying to give him a birthday present! Lazy morning sex!
* Herbert temporarily gets amnesia, and Dan is faced with the extremely weird and awkward task of having to explain Herbert to himself. I'd also just love a glimpse of what a "blank" Herbert's personality is like without his specific memories and how he reacts to Dan, and Dan maybe guiltily having a soft spot for a more emotionally open amnesiac Herbert but also being eager to get his Herbert back ….
Rush
James Hunt & Niki Lauda
James Hunt/Niki Lauda
James Hunt/Marlene Lauda/Niki Lauda
I love the prickly but super-emotionally-invested dynamic between James and Niki, with them having such huge differences in how they approach racing and life but also having a huge fundamental respect for each other (as much as they sometimes try to hide it); I also really love Niki's funny, oddly sweet, and unconventional romance with Marlene, and I feel like James/Niki/Marlene would make for a really fun and surprisingly warm and stable OT3.
Incorporating real-life biographical details or events where you like is totally fine, and so is just treating the movie as a fictional canon and taking it in whatever directions you want, making up different background info, etc.
* Niki finds out about James (awesomely) beating up that reporter on his behalf, and he's torn between being deeply irritated and secretly touched. Either way, the situation calls for cranky blowjobs where he's not technically saying thank you. At all. Maybe this also opens the door for a whole relationship, either James/Niki or James/Niki/Marlene.
* Basically any variation on "I can insult my frenemy all I want, but you can't" where Niki and James are secretly very defensive of each other behind the scenes. Do they eventually find out that it's common knowledge that it's now a bad idea to insult one of them around the other?
* Any hurt/comfort would be great. Niki's accident/burn care is great for this, and I also love the idea of the tables turning and post-accident Niki patching James up--with prickly comfort--after some more minor race injury. Or it could be non-race-related--maybe Niki has to basically scrape James up off the floor after a bad night? Maybe Marlene gets sick, and Niki and James wind up being the world's most awkward comforting team? I'm also totally here for Niki or James getting beaten up--they could both easily rub someone the wrong way!--and the other patching them up or wading in to defend them.
* Shared hotel rooms! There was only one bed (either the sexy variation or the awkward platonic one)! Just general on-the-road domesticity while they're traveling to different races. Hotel bathrobes, James stealing towels to get a rise out of Niki, minibar booze bottles, room service ….
* Niki takes James flying or tries to teach him how to fly. Shared exhilaration, beautiful views, intimacy, potentially James getting very turned on by Niki's competence (which highlights how often they're both turned on by each other's competence in general). Maybe it winds up being a perversely grounding experience for James?
* There's a mistake where Niki is briefly reported as dead after his crash, and James spirals before finding out the truth. What effect does it have on their relationship?
* Futurefic where their relationship--in whatever form--gets years to grow and evolve and get really comfortable (or go through lots of turbulent ups and downs, for that matter), and James gets a longer life and a happier ending. I really like both "they always live close to each other or even with each other" and "they don't see each other all that often, but they always stay really important to each other and the times they meet up are significant and meaningful to them." Domestic bliss, happy retirements, bittersweetness, slow burn romance, slow burn "actually admitting we're friends," whatever.
* Marriage tropes, no matter how cracky, are always right up my alley. There's some tradition that the two best drivers are supposed to marry each other, and Niki wants to buck that tradition at first, but he finds himself being less and less inclined to do it as time goes on? A/B/O universe where Niki and Marlene are an omega and a beta who need an alpha to complete their marriage? Homophobia-free AU where the press gets really enamored of the idea of a secret Hunt/Lauda love affair in addition to the famous rivalry, and a fake marriage they do as a joke/to get people off their backs turns real? James really needs sponsorship money, so he's going to auction off his hand in marriage to the highest bidder, which turns out to be Niki (and possibly also Marlene)?
Sweet Smell of Success
J. J. Hunsecker/Sidney Falco
This is such a dark, horny, and deeply kinky ship. Every time I've watched this movie, I've rewound to watch again as Sidney pops up to light J.J.'s cigarette for him: hot and deliciously weird. I really like the fucked-up power play of their relationship, where J.J. has 99% of the control but Sidney is determined to leverage his 1% wherever possible, and he's just useful enough--and maybe just interesting enough--to J.J. for J.J. to go along with it. There's an intense proprietary feeling to their relationship, with more intimacy than usual but also more abuse than usual.
Background J.J./Susan is fine for any of these prompts, too, either explicitly or in an implied, one-sided obsession way; Sidney sleeping around is also fine. I have a soft spot for trans guy Sidney Falco, if that's a headcanon you want to include.
* Sidney getting the jump on J.J.'s power games by introducing a kind of conscious D/s bend to their relationship. It seems like he spends a lot of the movie deliberately standing a step or so behind J.J., and I like the idea that that's part of him intentionally playing to J.J.'s dominant side. Maybe Sidney is more sexually experienced, so he thinks that awakening one of J.J.'s kinks will be a good way to get leverage, but he miscalculates exactly how J.J. works and also finds himself getting more into it than he'd like?
* J.J. as a kind of stone top who gets off on pure control but doesn't want to make himself vulnerable or messy by actually getting sexually involved himself, so he just gives Sidney lots of orders and instructions and sometimes lets him come in his pants or jerk off in front of him--always to cool amusement or disapproval--but doesn't want to come himself. Sidney, on the other hand, really wants to compromise J.J. by getting a bit of that vulnerability, so he's eager to seduce J.J. into actually fucking him or receiving a blowjob/handjob.
* With bonus Sidney/Susan: J.J. decides that if Susan's going to want to have some kind of outside love life, he wants to control it, so he sets her up with Sidney since he knows he can pull Sidney's strings. Cue him selectively giving Sidney permission to sleep with Susan only on certain nights, telling him what to do, etc., and doing things to Sidney that he wants Sidney to do to Susan. Just J.J. starting off being possessive by fucking the guy he's having fuck his sister and gradually getting more and more possessive of them both, his two favorite dolls to control and smash together.
* J.J. alternately publicly humiliating Sidney and then rewarding him just enough--privately or in his column--to keep him around, with Sidney maybe sometimes managing to wrangle a little more out of him than he at first wants to give.
* Sidney cozies up to another columnist, and J.J. isn't having any of it. Just give me J.J. possessively ruining Sidney's chances at being happy with another columnist in the same way he possessively ruins Susan's chances at being happy with another man, with it slowly sinking in for Sidney that he has made himself and his loyalty/subservience indispensable to J.J., but that that also means he's trapped in their relationship. But hey, at least now he can work that angle a little more. Or at least that's what he's telling himself.
* Sidney's clients can't put up with him getting stonewalled by J.J., and it makes it seem like he's J.J.'s least favorite press agent. But certain folks in the biz know better, and they know that Sidney is "J.J.'s boy" and therefore off-limits, no matter how much Sidney and J.J. are seemingly on the outs at the time. I'm totally down for a heartwarming-if-you-grade-on-a-steep-curve take where someone who is not J.J. in some way harms/publicly humiliates/etc. Sidney without J.J.'s approval, and J.J. comes down hard on them for it. And possibly gets a conflicted-but-grateful blowjob for it.
* Bonus kink things: cigarette kink, lighting matches, tie-related breathplay, collaring (especially with J.J. demanding that Sidney wear it out, where there's the constant risk someone will see it if his shirt slips), Sidney sitting at J.J.'s feet, occasional weird caresses, Sidney taking weird liberties with J.J.'s life or stuff (liking the pleasure of having a key to J.J.'s apartment, taking one of his cigarettes, stealing a bite off his plate, etc.), the world's least restful and most tension-filled co-sleeping ….

David Acosta & Kristen Bouchard & Ben Shakir
David Acosta/Kristen Bouchard/Ben Shakir
These three have such an excellent rapport and chemistry. I love their different worldviews--Kristen's agnosticism (with past Catholicism) and psychiatric training, David's devotion to the Church and his very real belief in visions and spiritual warfare, and Ben's atheistism with a cultural connection to Islam and techie/scientific/practical expertise--and the respect they have for each other (and, for that matter, the way they sometimes get into more tense disagreements). And they're just so dear with each other, sometimes with a great crackling sexual charge and sometimes with great settled, cozy intimacy. I love them both romantically and platonically and would be happy with anything centered on their relationship.
I'm good with their phenomena being scientifically explained, clearly supernatural, or a blend of both (or people deliberately making things look supernatural); I like the way they usually take turns being right or having the important insights.
I'm fine with any supporting characters being included--I especially like Kurt, Karima, Kristen's daughters, Sister Andrea, and Fenna, but everybody's good--and basically amicable (if sad) background breakup for Kristen and Andy if it's shipfic. Canonical amounts of David/Kristen attraction are also fine even if it's gen.
* Any hurt/comfort, including comfort for canonical hurts--cuddling and comforting Ben after his "E is for Elevator" trauma, staying with David after "Room 320," Kristen opening up to them about LeRoux and her subsequent feeling of possession/djinn hallucinations, etc. Plus, they've all had some absolutely awful nightmares and night terrors at this point, so they all deserve all the comfort just for that. And new hurts and traumas are also enthusiastically welcome, so feel free to whump any or all of them and let them comfort each other afterwards.
* Related to the above, co-sleeping to deal with recurring nightmares and night terrors. I loved Ben lucid dreaming about David supporting him through his night terrors with a sword (!!!), so I really like the idea that the three of them might take to sleep-protecting each other with some bed-sharing, platonic or otherwise. Also relatedly--dream-sharing. Maybe they need to investigate their own seemingly shared dreams and slowly pare away any possible rational explanations for them. How long does it take them to open up about them to each other? Are they having sex in their dreams?
* Casefic or snippets of casefic! Please give me all the weird supernatural or quasi-supernatural stuff. I especially like their weirder cases and incidents, like the Haunted Girl VR game, the "Pudsy's Christmas" video, Brenda at the girl's Halloween party, David and Kristen at David's father's party, the Elevator Game, the totally-not-Amazon zombies, etc., where it's obviously something weirder than a possession. I'd love to see them investigating a new incident, with all kinds of potential for humor and horror and whump and bonding.
* One of them gets personally affected and needs help. A haunted house, lingering visions/trauma from the helmet experience, something even weirder where they're hearing other people's thoughts or seemingly setting things on fire with their mind? One of them goes missing and they have to track them down?
* Sex pollen! Just have them all bang in an induced haze and feel weird about it but also basically happy. Maybe this is what gets them all to consider a real relationship with each other, when they'd maybe never gotten that far before. Is it a one-off, or do Kristen and Ben persuade David that he can keep his faith, his assessor job, and his role in combating capital-E Evil without becoming a priest, so he can stay with them? (I'd prefer this to happen pre-ordination.)
* Any kind of getting-together fic, especially with bonus pining and a look at how the different legs of the triangle might develop--David and Kristen's attraction and deep connection, David and Ben's long-standing friendship and loyalty, Ben and Kristen's adorable understanding and funny domesticity all as starting points, with those qualities gradually opening up to include all three of them. Cute romantic gestures, hot sex, working out a real functional relationship, shared childcare, etc.
* Mutual support! I just want them all showing up for each other, like at David's amazing pre-ordination "bachelor" party. Give me the three of them watching Ben's episode of the ghost-hunting show together or throwing birthday parties for each other or looking after Kristen's daughters or all being at one of David's dad's parties.
Random assortment of other tropes I find especially appealing for these three: soul bonds, temporary amnesia, two of them think the third is dead, character temporarily replaced by an evil doppelganger, "hurt/sick character isn't quite lucid," them risking themselves for each other, stranded in the wilderness or an isolated and hopeless setting/situation, washing hurt character's hair/helping them bathe, and truth serums.
Starsky & Hutch
David Starsky/Ken Hutchinson
These two just have incredible, electric chemistry, and I can never get enough of their banter, casual touching, tenderness, incredible romanticism, mutual protectiveness and loyalty, and just general fondness for each other. I also love the grimy-but-energetic-and-colorful seventies atmosphere; the show has a great sense of time and place.
* I love casefic--it doesn't have to be a complete case, either; I'm totally happy with a snippet of one! It could be a catalyst to start their relationship--or get it to a major transition point--or they could already have an established relationship giving them support or comfort or much-needed levity through the investigation. Some casefic/episode-like details I especially love: the sense of there being an acceptable level of low-key illegality and hustling to get by, supporting characters with their own potentially sympathetic agendas, Starsky and Hutch showing compassion for down-and-out people and people who often get treated as a "problem" (addicts, sex workers, people with mental illnesses, etc.), return of guest stars from episodes, criminal organizations and hierarchies, untouchable (or seemingly untouchable) wealthy kingpins/CEOs, criminals who still have some kind of code, weird crimes like stealing something that doesn't seem valuable at first, etc.
* I am so here for all the pining and yearning, whether that's before any kind of explicit relationship happens or post-sex, with one or both of them thinking the other doesn't want the same thing/doesn't want something more permanent or romantic. I also love scenarios where two people are hooking up and one person thinks they're dating and the other thinks he's hopelessly pining during a friends-with-benefits situation. What makes them realize what's going on or decide to take the first step? Is it something relatively ordinary--just a flash of epiphany during a low-key moment--or more dramatic?
* Established relationship story where they've been overworked and stretched thin for a while, and they really want to get away and spend some time together, but things keep coming up and piling on, until they finally manage to get some time to themselves. Or one partner wants to do something special for the other, as a gesture/birthday present/anniversary gift, but circumstances keep getting in the way and irritatingly foiling their plans.
* Any and all hurt/comfort, whether that's stemming from believable situations (or aftermaths/expansions of episodes) or from something completely over-the-top. If you come up with a situation but then worry that it's too contrived, rest assured, I will eat it up with a spoon. Just do bad things to one or both of them and let them comfort each other, and I will love it. Random sampling of favorite scenarios: "I thought you were dead," nightmares/lingering trauma/PTSD, migraines, "I'll torture you to hurt/get info from him," revelation of past trauma, one gets hurt protecting the other, noncon, "I'll trade you sex for his rescue," exhaustion, delusions/fever, and rescue. But seriously, anything.
* Sex: Can't get enough of each other, up against walls, appreciating each other's bodies in tight jeans and awesome clothes, hair-touching, lazy morning sex, exhausted post-case sex, getting off on leaving hickeys and bruises, and just generally enjoying the hell out of each other.
* Supernatural/SF elements: Time loops? To stop one of them from dying or to force one of them to confess their feelings? Some kind of curse? One of them starts seeing ghosts or moves into a new house/apartment that's haunted, making him think he's losing his mind? A criminal they're tracking down turns out to be something far worse and far weirder? Apocalypse or alien invasion?

Evil
